She Did It

There once was a girl who went to a new school. The kids seemed okay at first, but she later found out they were mean. Now, all of them have been able to put the past behind them and they're all best friends now. Family, even.

That girl was told she wasn't good at basketball. She worked hard. That girl shut them all up and won the award for most improved.

That girl put in the work and the effort every day of her school career and now sits in the top five of her class. It is hard, but she will tell you it's worth every night of no sleep and full on exhaustion.

That girl survived a global pandemic. Everybody did. If you're reading this, congratulations. You made it.

That girl had to do things she never dreamed of doing when her grandmother got dementia. That girl cried when she begged God to take her grandmother home because none of the family wanted her to suffer. That girl and her family, although sad, praised God when the grandmother passed, for they knew she was no longer suffering.

That girl lost her guinea pig, Gidget, three weeks after her grandmother died. Although heartbroken, she kept going. Giving up is not in her DNA.

That girl has heard from major colleges all across America. That girl is forging her way to her future.

That girl lost another family member, this time her great- grandmother.

There's other things that girl went through that aren't listed. Yet that girl made it, thanks to God. She owes it all to Him.

That girl is me. And here's my words of wisdom to anyone who reads this:

God is real, and he is good. His love and mercy endure forever. Be respectful and kind. Stop for funeral possessions. Always help someone in need. Visit family often. Be a good friend and you'll have good friends. Love like there's no tomorrow. WD-40 and duct tape can fix anything. Cornbread nourishes the soul. Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.

Thanks for reading.
