Chapter One - Powers from the Past, Present and Fusion

"The world was teeming with life, but asteroids hit the planet and the dinosaurs went extinct. That was sixty-five million years ago." The tourists listened intently to their tour guide as he explained this.

His name tag read 'Eliott' under a black silhouette of a dilophosaurus.

Eliott had moved to America less than a month ago, he would be staying a year with his uncle Nathan in Amber Beach away from his parents. He had applied for a job at the Amber Beach dinosaur museum and was invited for an interview with the manager, Kendall Morgan, or Ms Morgan as she was known by the staff.

Ms Morgan was very impressed with his resume and his extensive knowledge of dinosaurs, he was practically handed the job on the spot.

He was soon introduced to some of his coworkers. Shelby was clumsy and naïve but very intelligent. Koda was strong and kind but slow in the brain department.

Then there was Chase. He was the definition of a "ladies' man", always flirting with customers and tourists.

Truthfully, Eliott has had a huge crush on Chase ever since he started working there, but he would never dare tell him how he felt. He rarely spoke to Chase on his own because each time he sought the courage to approach him, he panicked and chickened out.

Chase was so obviously straight, but he couldn't help but fancy him.

He led his tour group away from the T-Rex skeleton, explaining how the meteor shower had caused the dinosaurs to become extinct.

They passed Chase wheeling along a cart of tools and Eliott held his breath for a moment before continuing the tour, but not without sparing a longing glance at the man.

He spotted him chatting with another guy that looked about their age.

He drew his attention back to the group when a young girl pointed out that he was staring into space, he quickly apologised and moved on with the tour.

The tour finished soon after that and he hastily made his way to the loading dock behind the museum, where he saw Koda and Chase loading a truck while Shelby was trying to convince them to let her go on the dig.

She sat on a crate and sighed, "Man, i"'m never gonna get to go!" she complained before Koda lifted her and the box into the truck, prompting a yelp out of her.

Koda saw him approach, "Eliott, hey!"

"Hey Koda" he mumbled, giving a small nervous wave to Chase.

Miss Morgan then appeared, "Miss Morgan!" Shelby exclaimed, jumping off the box.

"I think your party in booth four is missing a dinner roll. And no, you can't come-"

"-museum policy" Shelby mirrored Ms Morgan, following her around the truck when she walked away.

"Triceratops' head grew to be seven feet long. Only two of the horns were really bone, one was just ligament...give me a shot Ms Morgan, please? I know as much about dinosaurs as anyone on your crew" Shelby ranted matter-of-factly.

"Well, that's a bit presumptuous innit?" Eliott chimed in.

The girls glanced at him for a second before Ms Morgan resumed the conversation.
