Licht huffs in annoyance, glaring at the two taller males. He walks a reasonable distance away from the stunned males while silently contemplating what he had just done. Although he would not get into trouble for yelling at a royal family member, Licht might still have to bear the consequences from the prince's fan girls. Soon, they will catch word of what has occurred today and soon, he would be troubled left and right.
Aaaaghhh!!!! Why couldn't they just leave him alone?! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
Licht ran his hand through his hair repeatedly, agitated about what was definite to come. He didn't need a storyline to tell him that someone as coveted and famous as the crown prince would definitely have more than a few fan girls.
Miss Ermest frowns at the small group, and she could faintly feel the future stress manifesting. She claps loudly to get the class' attention on her. "This is a magic practical class, not a drama class."
Now with almost everyone's eyes on her, she could finally begin with the class. "This is one of the few areas in the Academy that allows magic use. For those unfamiliar with the school rules, upon discovering the use of magic where it is not permitted, unless it is not an emergency, the culprit will be given a warning four times." She narrowed her eyes at the students. "On the fifth time, the student will be suspended. If it is an emergency, the student must write a statement of what occurred. Students will also be warned, but it will not count in the number of limited warnings."
Ermest looked at the students who gave her their full attention, "Understood?" Except for a few murmurs, no questions were brought up. "Good. Now, I would be individually evaluating your potential."
Majority of the students did not try to hide their sneers. Although a few of these students were commoners, most were nobles with lots of eyes on them. Their abilities are already well known.
Miss Ermest did not shy away from the mocking eyes on her and even sneered right back. "If you newbies think you're special, then you're dead wrong. This academy is brimming with geniuses at all corners! Insignificants like you are thrown away early during the first year every single time. What makes you think you would be any different?"
Ermest smirks at the sour faces of her students; it was best to sort out all the lazy incompetents from the true geniuses. "You will be called out individually, and you each have five minutes to impress me." Her students didn't seem really motivated, "Those who succeed in impressing me will be chosen as class representative and will receive extra and special resources if possible."
Suddenly, everyone snapped their heads towards her. Resources! What did these resources include exactly? The most common were magic stones, and these varied according to their size and quality. But any noble could get them with a bit of money. Resources, in general, could include labs, magic scrolls and techniques, and maybe even magic weapons!!
Licht listened to the instructor's words carefully. He would admit, no matter how much of a genius he was, he didn't have enough knowledge of magic to make successfully advanced appliances. But with the support of the Academy...
"Does the magic have to be an offensive type?" Licht raised his hand and questioned. Although their first impression was not good, Miss Ermest did not treat Licht dishonestly and answered his question.
"No, but it would be preferred." She didn't explain further. But Licht could tell what she meant. Offensive magic was the fastest way to display one's strength.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Students were chosen in an orderly manner by their last names. Licht's name wasn't really far behind on the list, but he had to wait even longer due to some without last names. The students before Licht 'didn't impress her enough,' as Miss Ermest said. Some people's magic were flashy but not powerful or controlled enough. Some had special magic, but they were not proficient enough.
About half of the class had been called out, but the mood was already downcast.
Emily had been called out early in the long run. Her magic was very coveted special magic, but it wasn't very strong. Still, Miss Ermest was mildly impressed and considered including her in the magic section's representatives.
"Licht Ciel Dramon. Please come forward."
Licht pushed his small figure out of the crowd. Now that they looked closer wasn't this the beautiful genius son of the Marquis Dramon? Their expectations, mixed with jealousy and envy, reached a peak.
Licht stood in the open space and took a deep breath. "I'm about to present a magic circle that I made. But it is quite destructive, so I might need more space." Usually, Licht always spoke in a few words, but this was necessary to ensure no one was hurt. His resources were on the line.
Ermest raises her brow in question, "Alright. You heard the kid, spread out!" The students moved backwards. They dare not underestimate the words of a genius.
Ermest nodded, and soon Licht began. He pursed his lips in concentration as he willed his magic circle to appear. The light blue circle appeared, and an illusionary figure of an ice spear appeared.
"Now for retreating..." Licht murmured as he moved his arm behind and prepared a teleportation circle behind him. Another teleportation circle appeared next to Miss Ermest, and soon, the students began murmuring in awe.
He was already this proficient in space magic?! ∑(; °Д°)
It was common knowledge that space magic was the hardest to comprehend out of all magic. Magic didn't just appear out of nowhere. One had to understand and memorise magic circles and theories thoroughly. But Licht just made a magic circle like it was nothing! Without a chant at that!!
"Possess..." Licht murmured once again as a purple magic circle appeared above the ice spear. From it, dark tendrils latched on it, burrowing themselves into the ice spear. Both magic circles soon merged, shining brightly. "And now morph." The magic circle that was once stable soon began to shake, and the ice spear began to steam. Licht wanted the darkness to attain properties of heat to create a team explosion. Still, it was very difficult to use magic to merge contrasting elements.
Under the surprised eyes of everyone watching, Licht managed to achieve this. He shot the spear towards the staw dummy and left his position quickly. As expected, an explosion occurred. A loud bang roared as hot air blew against each spectator's horrored face. Where the dummy stood, there was a crater, still steaming from the explosion.
Licht stood next to Miss Ermest, beaming. Yes, he was determined to win that position.
Hey everyone!! ┬┴┬┴┤ω・)
