Licht gave a small smile, proud of his work. Technically, this was his first time practicing this spell. With one wrong move, the practice grounds would have been wiped off the face of the earth, given the amount of mana kept in each circle. But, he had spent a lot of time theorizing the circle, so he was 75% sure he would succeed.

Matt and Arteus instantly took sight of Licht's small smile, and immediately, their heartbeat spiked. It was illegal to look that cute!

Just as they thought of this, they glared at each other. Their instincts warning them that their beloved is coveted by another.

Miss Ermest stared pale-faced at the crater where the dummy was. She had no words to describe what she just witnessed. After a minute, she sighed. She was a genius pertaining anything magical, but she couldn't understand how someone could create such destructive magic in such little time. And for someone so young.....

An uneasy smile made its way to her face, but she couldn't help but feel excited. As a senior in the magic field, it was her duty to guide a reckless soul such as Licht. "Incredible," Ermest didn't hold back on her praise. "A newly invented magic is very impressive and always accepted in the Academy, but something as dangerous as this should not be used simply as a 'demonstration'. It's really a surprise you're still standing after casting that mana sucker."

Miss Ermest nods in approval, "Good job."

Surrounding students look at Licht in awe. Someone as grumpy as Miss Ermest actually complimented and even advised him sincerely. It was a first for the class as usually she would only wordlessly nod with a frown on her face or an occasional 'Good'.

"Next!" She coughs out using her fist to cover a visible smile. She couldn't help it! She was especially excited to formally accept Licht as her first disciple. Only someone as cute and talented as him would deserve such a position.

Despite Licht's over the top performance, everyone's spirits were ignited. Although they knew the couldn't outshine Licht but they were motivated to leave an impression. Maximillian and Arteus were even more motivated. They were not aiming to impress the teacher, but Licht.

Arteus displayed his vast control over water and ice magic with a chosen helper, which was Licht. And Max displayed his sun magic with a chosen helper, which was also Licht. With his frustration building up, Licht could not even yell out his grievances as it was only normal to have a helper with some magic. But could they leave him out of it?!?!

He could obviously notice their groping hands and straying eyes!!

SCUM!! Both of them are scum men!! ヽ༼ ಠ益ಠ ༽ノ

At the end of it all, Miss Ermest could vaguely understand the capabilities and characters of her students. "Okay! Student representatives for the magic class will be..." She paused for dramatic effect. Unlike what others may think, she didn't just choose students just based on strength and prestige.

She had to take other things into consideration. For example, their friendliness and approachability, responsibility over peers, logical thinking and a clear mind free of bias. Ermest smiled, "I have chosen Licht as the captain and Emily as the vice-captain."

Ahhh.......Can I go back?

Licht silently shed tears in his heart and outwardly, a small frown appeared. The prince smiled curtly at the teacher, "May I ask why Miss Azzella was chosen? She doesn't seem to have much talent."

Miss Ermest gives the prince a single glance before turning away, "Being powerful or talented isn't always a good characteristic of a leader." She says this with an underlying meaning. She also didn't want to admit she was doing this just to spite the prince.

Maximillian's smile twitches as he hears her words. She didn't even try to hide her sarcastic tone but he couldn't do anything about it. Arteus on the other hand wanted to smirk at Max's misfortune, but his situation wasn't any different. After putting effort in staying with his fiance, he was beat by some random girl.

Emily stood star-struck with complex emotions going through her. Happiness and relief from being picked. Unwillingness that Licht was her partner, even though it was obvious he would get picked. And confusion. She could feel two hot stares on her person, and when she turned to make eye contact, she instantly regretted it. Eyes filled with complaint, unwillingness and jealousy pierced at her. She had never been the target of a jealous stare....she was an angel loved by everyone! But the school seemed to be filled with some strange figures.....

With this in mind, Emily made up her mind for the future. She would try her best to be a figure people would love and look up to more!! That way, even if she isn't the strongest or most talented, she would still be able to sway people's hearts and become a good role model.

"Yes Ma'am! I would do my utmost best!" She calls out enthusiastically with a bright smile. Licht frowned even harder; who would have thought his plan would have backfired. He didn't know if he should feel annoyed or relieved....

On one hand, he was happy to have escaped the prince and young duke, but on the other hand, dealing with Emily was already a pain. He sighed, he couldn't even ignore her existence since fundamentally she was essentially his partner now.

"As will I." Licht relays to Miss Ermest half-heartedly. Miss Ermest nods in response, "Now that we've gotten the issue of class representative out of the way, I want to repeat this again. This is a magic practical class. That means you would be taught on how to use your magic in effective ways. I would not be teaching anyone on how to create magic circles as that is not included in the course." She clapped her hand and looked around briefly.

"No question? Good. You are all dismissed."

As she walks away, Licht took a deep breathe as he watched three people approach him; Maximillian, Arteus and Emily. As they made their way towards him, many thoughts ran through Licht's head. All he wanted to do was run away and ignore them. But he wasn't stupid, he knew how these things always ended.

He sighed, "Let's just get this all over with."

U-um so.... its been more than half a year a-and I promise I had a reason! S-so you see...............I sincerely ask for your forgiveness ( ╥ω╥ )
