Kinn waits outside the door, getting increasingly restless as the time passes and his father doesn't come out, only silence filling his ears as the hallway of the hospital was empty, they had put Pete in the suite reserved for the members of the first family instead of the bodyguard area, it had been his father orders, so the entire floor was practically unoccupied, except for a few nurses who knew it was better to keep to themselves when they visited.
It had been two weeks since Pete had woken up and had confirmed Porsche's involvement in the shooting, it had not been an accident of that he was sure, either Porsche had really put every effort to hurt Pete? That was still the question, he knew that there was a plan behind all of this, right after finding Pete, Kinn had Arm check all the calls made from inside the house, Vegas and Porsche would call each other every three days, same time, and the calls would always last less than one minute, probably just to coordinate meetings, there was a plan.
Porsche could be all chaos, but Vegas had been raised as a mafia heir, he was the one who had erased the trace of them, so well that even today they had nothing, Vegas was the one with the skills to keep people quiet, Vegas was the one with the experience.
Vegas was the one Porsche had trusted.
Trust.
What a fragile sentiment, is it?
Trust is one of the heaviest of influences in life, is putting every piece of you on display, so the other can see every beautiful and ugly thing inside of you, it means letting them see parts of you that you are ashamed of, the dreams that died, the thoughts that torment you, the songs you like, how you find comfort, what makes you anxious at three in the morning, what lingers after happiness leaves you, what movies make you laugh or cry, the books you wish could read again and again, is showing the world inside of you, and hope that a new world will be revealed in the same way that you have done.
His thoughts would turn tiresome and repetitive these days, but he could not find the resolve to just stop.
Trusting someone in the horrid world he lived in truly was dosing yourself in gasoline and giving the other a match only to live with the moment they would decide whether to light on the fucking fire or douse the match.
The bitterness in Kinn's head doesn't rest, he takes a heavy breath and leans against the wall in front of the door, this morning when he had been preparing to visit Pete, who was going to be discharged from the hospital later today, the bodyguard his father had deemed as a temporary replacement for Chan, had come to tell him that his father was going to be accompanying him, it was...weird.
He hadn't belief his father had something to speak with Pete, especially in private, since the moment they got to the door, he had been softly told he needed it to stay outside for a minute, it had been fifteen minutes, he had counted every second. His father said he just wanted to have a talk with Pete without him feeling pressured, and he would come to collect Kinn when he was finished and without giving him a chance to say that Pete would feel more pressure with him, than with Kinn, his father went inside, closing the door behind him.
