The Trident

Cali now 16, was in the indoor pool with Eliza, Calibwas practicing her Hydrokinesis. She always practiced her powers whenever she had free time, to keep her skills in tune. Eliza was sitting on the edge with her feet in the water watching Cali. The blonde loved watching her best friend practice her powers.

As Cali was practicing she felt a feeling it was almost instinctual and she reached up and touched her trident necklace that her mother had given her the day she was left with Charlie and suddenly it wasn't a necklace anymore but a real trident in her hands. 

Eliza looked at her with wide eyes "Uh Cal... you saw that too right, I didn't just imagine that?" 

Cali looked at her "no El that really happened my necklace just turned into a real trident." 

The blonde nodded "good... I had to make sure that I wasn't going crazy... so uhhh will it turn back into a necklace?" 

The raven-haired girl shrugged "no clue, but uhhh let's try and see." she ran her hands along the handle of the trident until she came across a button, she pushed it and the trident was once again around her neck as a necklace. "that answers that I guess." 

"yeah, did you know it could do that?" 

Cali laughed "nope." 

"where did you get it?" 

Cali smiled "it was a gift from my mom,  the day she left me with, dad... I can vaguely remember her telling me that it would protect me and when I was older I would know what to do that it would be like instinct." she touched it again in the same spot and once again the trident was in her hands and she pressed the button again and it was around her neck again, "she must've had it enchanted so that I couldn't lose it since it goes right back around my neck."

Eliza grinned at her "that's so cool." then the bell signaling the end of their free period rang, and both girls headed back to their rooms to change. They met back up outside of their History class and walked in together.

"Hi, Logan." The girls said together.

Logan, who was their history teacher, nodded at them "Cali, Eliza." They took their seats. Eliza tapped her head and Cali got the memo 'You need to tell the professor about what happened and you're new weapon.'

Cali nodded at her, placing two fingers on her head 'I will El after classes are over.' The blonde nodded letting her know that she got the message. Then the rest of the students joined them and Logan started the lesson for the period.

Classes were finally finished for the day and Cali reached out to the professor telling him that she needed to see him and he replied telling her to meet him in his office in 10 minutes.

10 minutes later Cali knocked on the door and was told to come in "Cali what's wrong, you said it was urgent."

She smiled "there's nothing wrong I just figured I should show you what happened during my free period today."

Charles nodded "of course go on."

"Eliza and I were by the pool, I was practicing my Hydrokinesis and she likes to watch, says it looks cool. I did it almost instinctively." She reached up to her necklace "I touched my necklace and this happened." She demonstrated and her necklace once again turned into an actual trident. She pressed the button and it turned into a necklace, once again "then there's a button that makes it a necklace again."

"That is interesting Cali, where did you get the necklace?"

A smile slipped onto her face "my mom gave it to me, the last time I saw her, she said that it would protect me... I'm guessing that is what she meant by that. Now I just have to learn how to use it." she laughed. "Eliza and I thought it would be a good idea to warn you about it... since I will more than likely be training myself how to use it in the pool when I can just in case I need it in a fight that might happen near water."

Charles nodded at her "well thank you for the warning Cali, it's appreciated."

"Of course professor, just so was there was no confusion when I am more than likely going to be seen with it, to learn how to wield it."

After her conversation with the professor, Cali found Eliza waiting for her in her room, with a grin "wanna try out your new trident?"

Cali grinned back at her "let's do it, just let me get changed... seeing as you are already changed."

Eliza nodded, "okay, Cali."

Cali quickly changed and the two girls headed back to the pool "well I should probably practice a bit on dry land first to make sure I don't accidentally flood the pool or something since I am going to be teaching myself how to use it."

Eliza laughed but nodded in agreement "okay yeah that would probably be a good idea, Cali." and so Eliza watched Cali spend the next few hours getting accustomed to the trident and the movements, it would be easier if she had someone to teach her but since she doesn't she'll train herself.

After Cali decided that she had done enough for that session, the two girls decided to sit by the pool and just talk for a while until it was time for dinner.

After dinner, Cali was in her room getting ready to go to bed, when she realized she needed to call her dad. She dialed the number and it rang twice before he answered "hello?"

"Hey, dad."

Charlie smiled hearing his daughter's voice "hey kiddo, what going on how's school?"

Cali smiled as well "schools good, my grades are good too, straight A's and my training is going great too, all of my professors say that I've learned control very well to only be 16 and well you remember the trident necklace my mom gave me the day she left me with you and how she said that it would protect me?"

"That's great kiddo and yeah I remember."

"Well, I found out what that meant today... Eliza and I were in the pool or well I was while she just had her feet in the water and I touched it and the next thing I know there's an actual metal trident in my hands... so I have a real trident now, I just need to learn how to use it."

"Wow... I can't say I expected that kiddo."

Cali laughed "yeah well that makes two of us dad, and then there's a button that turns it right back into a necklace around my neck, I figure there's some kind of enchantment on it so that I can't lose it."

"Woah, just when I start getting used to all this supernatural powers stuff you just keep surprising me."

Cali laughed again "honestly dad, me too, I start to get the hang of this and then boom something new happens and the process starts over... so how was your day dad?"

Charlie laughed as well "it was good kiddo, nothing interesting happened."

Cali talked to her dad for a little while longer before she had to go, so she could get to bed, she did have classes the next day. "Bye, dad I'll talk to you later, love you."

"Alright, kiddo I'll talk to you later, love you too." then she hung up the phone with a smile on her face, she adored Charlie. And then she went to bed.
