Robin’s Pov.

When I heard Finney say home I sprang up while gently helping Finney up as well.

“Of course! We just need to get to the office first so I can grab the bags.” We soon started our walk to the office leaving Matty beaten on the ground. My knuckles hurt but luckily I avoided his teeth, though I’m sure I broke his jaw and that’s gonna suck when he wakes up.

Once I walked in I picked the bags up and waved goodbye to the lady at the desk. She was surprisingly nice and never asked many questions.

“Now let’s go home. You don’t need me to carry you do you?” I saw him shake his head.

“No thanks. He didn’t actually hurt anything besides my shoulder a bit. I can walk fine though.” I could see his body tremble faintly and it tore my heart up to see him like that.

“Finney, you know you can talk to me right? I may be better in fights but I’ll always listen.” I saw tears start pouring down his face as we both stopped. We were now outside on a sidewalk taking the fastest route to my house.

He carefully stretched his arms around my neck as I pulled him closer. None of us spoke and I soon wrapped my arms around his thighs lifting him up into a koala hug. He clung to me and his legs tightened around my waist as I started walking us home.

I’m going to be honest. This was pretty hard. Finney and I were a similar height and weight so picking him up may have been a bad idea. Don’t get me wrong he is super light for his age and all but I wasn’t exactly in the best state with my arm and leg still healing. Not to mention I was also carrying two bags.

I managed to pull through as I finally saw the steps to our house. My uncle was sitting on the porch smoking a cigarette when he saw us. Finney was still clinging to me and I could tell he passed out so getting him up the stairs would be difficult.

“Robin, necesitas ayuda?” (Need help?)

“Si.” (yes) He walked down the porch taking Finney off of me carrying him bridal style. “Gracias tio.” I was panting by now. That was a long walk. We stepped into the house and my uncle laid Finney down on my bed.

“Estas bien?” (Are you ok?) I saw him look down at my hand which was covered in blood.

“Lo siento. Un imbécil trató de lastimar a Finney en la escuela.” (I’m sorry. Some asshole tried to hurt Finney at school.) I had my head down as I felt ashamed of going off again especially in front of Finney.

“Esta bien. Hiciste bien en protegerlo. Estoy orgulloso.” (It’s ok. You did good to protect him. I’m proud.) I felt his hand on my shoulder before he left the room. I then sat on the foot of the bed removing Finney’s shoes.

“I’m so sorry.” I really couldn’t do anything right. I said I would protect Finney and he almost got hurt again.

I knew thinking like this wasn’t going to help so I stopped and got back up. School was going to be over soon and I didn’t want Gwen worried. I started making my way back to the school after telling my uncle to keep an eye on Finney in case he woke up while I was gone.

~Time skip to Robin being at the school.~

I arrived a bit after the bell rang. A bunch of kids were exiting and it made it hard for me to see if Gwen was out.

“BOO!” I jumped and sprung around to see Gwen standing there. “Oh my god I got you so good.” She was laughing and I was very tempted to smack her on the back of her head. “Damn, I didn’t know you were such a pussy.”

“Funny. Now let’s go.” I started walking back but she wasn’t moving.

“Wait, where's Finney?” She was staring at me waiting for an answer.

“He’s already at my place.”

“Why? Did something happen? Does it have to do with Matty being found knocked out in the bathroom?” She caught on quickly.

“Yes, it actually does. Finney was on his way to history and Matty jumped him I’m guessing and I found them in a bathroom stall with Matty trying to pull Finney’s pants down.” I saw Gwen give me a look of shock and anger.

“That cocksucking shithead did what!?” People were starting to look at us as Gwen was yelling.

“He’s ok. He wasn’t hurt anywhere and Matty didn’t do anything to him as I beat the crap out of him. Finney wanted to go home so I carried him there and he’s currently sleeping.” I could see Gwen calm down a little, but only a little. I knew that the next time she saw Matty he was going to be in the hospital for a while.

Almost made you feel bad for the kid, though I don’t because that pendejo se lo merece. ( that asshole deserves it.) We soon started walking back to my house while Gwen would silently mutter how she was gonna kill Matty. To say it was an interesting walk would be an understatement as I learned a lot from Gwen. Things I don’t actually think I wanted to know.

At last, we made it back to my place. My uncle was seated on the porch steps, though this time he had no cigarette.

“Ah, y esta es la hermana de Finney?” ( oh, and this is Finney’s sister?) My uncle seemed pretty excited I was making friends and I guess it was the first as I never really had anyone before.

“Si, esta es Gwen.” (yes, this is Gwen.) I looked at Gwen. “Gwen, this is my uncle. You can literally just call him tio.” She nodded her head in response before speaking.

“Hello! It’s nice to meet you and thank you for letting us stay here with you. We really appreciate it.” My uncle looked to me for some help as it didn’t seem he understood.

“Ella dijo gracias por dejarlos quedarse.” (She said thanks for letting them stay.) After I translated he said of course and we then entered the house to check on Finney.

We entered the room and saw him still asleep on the bed.

“Thank god he’s still resting.” A smile found its way on my face as I watched Finney sleeping.

“Dude, you know staring at him like that is super creepy right?” My head snapped towards Gwen and I could see her face was contorted in clear disgust, but it was obvious that she was being somewhat sarcastic. Her face also had a small smirk plastered on it.

“I’m not being that creepy. It’s just…Seeing him so calm and peaceful always makes me super happy. Knowing that he’s safe.” I returned my stare to Finney. “I don’t know what I'd do without him.”

“You know. When I first found out you and Finney were friends I was really shocked and upset.” I was now looking back at her. “I’ve heard the rumors around school about you and I was scared for the longest time that you were using Finney for math or whatever.” She glanced at her fidgeting hands, something Finney also did when nervous. “But, now that I’ve gotten to know you more and see how you act around Finney. It’s made me realize how good you are for him. Finney was always shy and quiet. He’s never really had any friends, but when he’s with you. It’s like the world isn’t all that bad and full of shit.” She finally glanced back up at me. “When he’s with you, he’s happy. Thank you Robin.”

“Gwen. You’ve got it all wrong.” She looked a little confused. “I may have helped him out, but he… he saved me.” Her face soon overtook an expression of shock. “I love him, Gwen.”
