Dahlia had felt completely discombobulated when waking up the next morning in Dew's bedroom

Dahlia had felt completely discombobulated when waking up the next morning in Dew's bedroom. The nausea had long since sizzled out but the remnants of anger still hadn't gone away. Even Aether who was normally a relaxed ghoul was somewhat on edge. That could've been because the Imperator's attempts could land them with the same fate. Nobody wanted to address the elephant in the room that morning.

Dew hadn't stopped being over-worried about every little moment she made since crawling out of bed. Granted it was sweet but completely unnecessary even with the aches in her body. If she even moved an inch, Dew was there holding onto her like she'd pass out. Dahlia reached for the glass of water on the table that Aether got for her only for Dew to be already holding it out for her.

"Amore mio, my limbs aren't broken." Dahlia giggled. Usually Dew didn't dote on her quite this much unless it was after a hardcore fucking session.

"You were poisoned, kitten. You need to rest." Dew wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her to his chest. He didn't want to admit how terrified he'd been after founding out what the Imperator pulled. As much as Dew seemed like he didn't care about things, Dahlia was an exception. Loosing a mate was detrimental to any ghoul but Dew felt like it would've been way worse for him to handle.

"Did you notice anything off putting with Sister Imperator?" Aether questioned taking a seat across them. Dahlia tried to think back through the exchange yesterday but nothing honestly jumped up at her.

"I mean I was surprised at how nonchalant she was about the situation. But nothing seemed too odd?" Dahlia shook her head. Nothing was ever normal when it came to dealing with Sister Imperator. Just the energy around her was off putting in the worst way possible.

"Once she finds out you're still alive, she won't stop." Aether felt the room heat up thanks to Dew who was still seething. His tail flickering angrily behind them, the ghoul attempted to nuzzle his mate's neck in attempt to calm down.

"What do you think I should do? I can't just leave." Dahlia said. Leaving behind the abbey without Dew wasn't an option and she wouldn't make him leave the other ghouls there. Who knew what would happen to them after questioning from the Imperator.

"We could speak to the Cardinal but I'm not sure if he can do anything. Sister Imperator runs this abbey whether we like It or not." Aether shook his head. The Cardinal was too kind natured to truly do anything to stop the woman from continuing to kill Dahlia.

"I don't want to cause an uprising by any means. But I don't want to die, Aether." Dahlia could hear her voice cracking. Just when things seemed like it would get better, it was getting ripped away from her. She leaned further into Dew's touch to try to distract herself from a worse future.

"Have you tried reaching out to your father? You mentioned he was a Cardinal in another abbey?" Aether suggested. This could be a long shot but perhaps Cardinal Amato could be of some assistance even if it was from afar.

"Father thinks this was a blessing from the Dark Lord himself. He'd be extremely disappointed in me." Dahlia sighed. She had a decent relationship with him sure but the church came first before anything. It hadn't been that bad when her mother was alive but she figured it just was a good distraction from the loss they'd suffer.

"Our best option is the Cardinal then." Aether said. Dahlia nodded trying to think of the best way to go about it. As horrible at the Imperator could be, poisoning someone didn't really seem plausible but it had been done.

"I'll try to talk to him tonight after mass, hopefully he will be able to do something." Dahlia didn't usually believe in wishful thinking but it was desperately needed. The Cardinal had been so kind to her throughout all of this. She honestly felt bad running to him for help but what more could she do?

"I can talk to him, you need to rest baby." Dew said. His attention solely on making certain his mate would remain safe in the abbey. Granted he had been summoned to assist the church in spreading their message, Dew was more concerned with Dahlia. But there was also the fear that if he left her side, would she be safe? Would the Imperator come in their corridor to attempt something else? Dew clutched onto Dahlia feeling as if she might just disappear in that moment.

"I'll be okay, amore. I can handle this." Dahlia rested a hand against the side of his mask. His eyes were filled with worry and doubt that things could eventually be okay for them.

"You're my mate, kitten. I'm suppose to take care of you." Dew placed a kiss on her forehead and rested his head against hers. Both of them were worried their time together could be cut shorter each day. Dahlia knew it had been wrong what she did but it wasn't something that could've been prevented.

"That means I'm suppose to take care of you as well." Dahlia said. Dew always wanted to be the protector of the both of them but sometimes that wasn't possible. She was determined to find a way out of this without having to go into hiding or causing an uprising. None of the other ghouls deserved to be punished for their actions or be in fear of something happening to them. All of them simply deserved to be safe and happy. However it seemed like Sister Imperator just wanted everyone to be miserable alongside her.
