Layla
21,young, free, careless and wild were all the things that I was not. Conservative would be the best way to describe it I guess. Can't see my parents disappointed ,always tried my best to keep peace and happiness in the house. I flipped another page of my 550 pages thick book. " Layla you have to go! What will people think?" my mother tried convincing me behind my locked room door.
" I don't care mother please try and understand I don't want to go, they will judge me the moment I walk in through that door" I tried convincing.
" You know what, i'm just not gonna ask you, your coming that's final be ready by 5:30."
I sighed and gave up.
It's been about a month since we have moved here, Calgary is a beautiful city anyone would fall in love with it, though it was just that I missed Melbourne and all my friends. Now this, a dawat that I will be attending for the first time in here, with my so called distance relatives and relatives of the distance relatives and so on, you get the idea.
Closing the book I open my closet, my eyes instantly fall on my favourite peach coloured top, perfect. Peach top and black jeans that should do trick. I got ready in 10 minutes without fuss; let's see what this dawat has awaiting for us.
Tariq
Why do people get so intense about a dawat? I mean is the food so important that they have to prepare 2 days prior, I personally believe it should be about having fun, people you know hanging out together and chatting about each others interest though these aunties would never understand, always gossiping and judging people. Glad i'm not a girl to have to sit with them and suffer through all that, ha !
" Hey Tariq are you done?" my sister asks as I connect the cable back to the TV. " All done and if you use your brain you might have figured out the only problem with the TV was that the cable wasn't connected."
I could hear the girls giggling as they walk past, being 6'1 and very good looking was definitely an advantage not trying to sound self obsessed or anything, actually it is the only reason why I come to these boring gatherings sometimes, the girls try so hard to impress and I just mess around for fun.
Just as I was about to leave the ladies room my eyes froze on a figure that just walked in. Long black slightly messed up hair some bits in locks, her skin was glowing in that peach coloured top, she was definitely taller then most of girls in room. Before I knew it I was completely awestruck and probably looking like a total idiot.
Layla
Oh god oh god there is so many people in this room, come on I got this, I cannot mess up in the first gathering. " Is this your daughter Farida?" one of the aunties ask. All the eyes turned to me and I felt my face go bright red, trying to avoid those eyes, I turn my head around trying to focus anywhere but those awkward aunties when I noticed someone was staring.
Hey everyone this was my first chapter i hope you all liked it, I will try updating regularly, feedback would be appreciated :)
