✩"Can you repeat what happened to me one more time?" Officer Johnson asked politely, standing in front of the four teens with an open notepad.
Kwan opened his mouth to recite the story he unfortunately knew by heart another time, but Parker beat him to it, "We've told you like twenty times, it's cold and raining, we just want to go home."
Skye stood up as a car pulled in behind the several police cars. The second the car stopped Skye was making her way over, running over to the drivers seat, and hugging her mom when she got out.
Officer Johnson sighed, closing his notepad, "I really don't think any of you should be driving in the state you're in, but one of you need to take your friend back." He gestured to Val, who was staring at the ground.
"I can." Kwan quickly offered.
"You have a drivers license?" Officer Johnson asked, raising an uncertain eyebrow at him.
"Yes, I just got one." Kwan lied. Parker turned to look at him in shock.
"Alright, take these two home then, I'll fill your mom in on everything that has happened if your sister hasn't already." Johnson instructed, before walking off towards Skye.
"Val, are you okay to move to the car?" Parker asked, gently rubbing his hand up and down her back.
Val nodded, standing up, "My mom is probably worried about me not being home yet."
They quickly walked to Val's car, Kwan getting in the drivers seat while Val got into the back seat and Parker in the passenger seat.
"Wait!" Skye yelled, knocking on the window of the empty passenger seat. She opened the car door, sliding into the seat next to Val, "I don't feel like answering anymore questions, let me come with you."
Before Kwan could respond, Skye had already buckled her seatbelt. "Okay, I guess."
"Val, should I drop you off first?" Kwan asked, glancing back at Val.
"Yeah, you can keep the car and just pick me up in it tomorrow, I'll explain everything to my sister." Val said, "But don't crash it, I know you don't know how to drive."
Kwan smiled at Val's joke, glad she was in the mindset to do it. Kwan pulled out of his neighborhood and onto the street that led to Val's house.
It was dark outside, and the rain made it harder to see; even though the windshield wipers were on.
"Are you sure this is the right way?" Parker asked after they had spent five minutes driving without another car in sight.
"Yeah, Kwan, you aren't used to driving." Skye unhelpfully pointed out, "Maybe you took a wrong turn?"
"No, I've walked this way hundreds of times, I know the way." He insisted.
"But you've never walked when it's dark outside." Parker pointed out.
"Wait, guys." Val said, stopping the argument going on, "There's a car behind us."
Kwan quickly glanced in the rearview mirror and Parker turned around in his seat.
"Yeah, one car, so what?" Skye asked, "I bet it's lost too."
Val sighed, "I'll pull up google maps, pull to the side of the road."
Kwan rolled his eyes but didn't fight back as he pulled to the left side of the road. The car in back of them drove straight by them.
"Jesus, you live two minutes away from me but we're ten minutes away right now." Val said, handing Kwan her phone, "Follow this route."
