KOOK & CHAE—
"Are you sure this is a good idea?"
This was around the tenth time Park Chaeyoung heard that question that day.
The four girls sat around their living room. It was one of the rare occurrences of them being home all at the same time.
It was only by mere coincidence but she thought it was the best opportunity to let them know that Jungkook had invited her to a weekend getaway and she had said yes.
Lisa had been almost out the door when she blurted it out while the other two completely stopped what they were doing.
"I don't see why it's not?" she shrugged.
Of course she had wondered the same question, probably about a million times before they even asked.
In true Chaeyoung fashion, she was overthinking it to no end. But she was trying her best to be more optimistic these days, especially after her unfortunate incident and the fact that this counted as their last scheduled date, meaning she was due to be free from the contract soon.
Although, a part of her couldn't help but feel sad and despondent about it all, which maybe played a driving force to her decision.
She was never one to like endings, but she wanted it to be on a good note. Plus, Jungkook and her were in a better place, or, again, trying her best to be.
"Well, for starters, you were just hospitalized and now you want to travel?" Jisoo responded as the other girls nodded in agreement.
"That was already last week and we've established that it wasn't due to any illness or disease," Chaeyoung reasoned, already having thought of a rebuttal to that.
Lisa squinted her eyes at her, "Okay, but what about—about..."
"...Jungkook?" Chaeyoung finished her sentence for her.
She assumed he was the main reason as to why they were wary about her going.
They all knew she had recovered from her illness for quite some time now, but when it came to the subject of that man, the girls would immediately return to protective mode. She couldn't blame them for feeling this way, especially after their history.
"Chae, you know we love you," Jennie soothed, caressing her arm. "We're just worried to keep you alone with him."
"It's only for one night, and I think we've all seen he won't let anything bad happen to me," Chaeyoung said. "It's not like we're going across the world."
"Like Madrid," Lisa retorted, trying to make light of the situation, but unfortunately, the joke fell flat.
"It's just Jeju Island," Chaeyoung said pointedly, ignoring her. "What's the worst that could happen?"
