KOOK & CHAE—
Jungkook woke up to Chaeyoung's bare face from the other bed.
The sun poked through the slits of the curtains while the subtle sound of birds could be heard. These quiet moments were everything to him. Where it was just the two of them and the stillness of the world.
He sat up from his bed and continued to stare at her sleeping state.
Jungkook couldn't help but feel curious if she had completely forgotten about his slight confession a few weeks ago, days before she fainted. He remembers it putting her into quite the dilemma as she didn't know what to think of his sudden admission, saying his actions were more than friendly. But he thanks God that she didn't bring it up again, agreeing to start over, to really be friends once more.
When he admitted those words, it might have been from the impulsive side of him. He didn't really think about the future or the consequences of his actions, he just wanted her to know and keep her by his side. He wanted to respond to her drunken confession at Yoongi's birthday party and beg her not to let him go because he couldn't imagine a life without her.
If only she knew how deep his feelings actually went. He finally admitted to himself (and Namjoon) that he had fallen in love with her, but like he said last night, it would take a miracle before he felt like he was deserving of her. Though he wanted more than anything for her to love him back, he wanted to earn that privilege.
Being friends was good. Being friends was more than enough.
This weekend on the island had been absolute bliss and he was not ready to return to reality.
"Can't we just stay here?" Chaeyoung asked over breakfast.
It seems like he wasn't the only one who was dreading going back.
Jungkook chuckled as he set down his utensils, "Should we just live out our days here? Start a farm and raise some chickens together?"
The woman in front of him choked on her eggs before smiling, "Aniyo, you're too talented to be hidden from the world."
"Was that a compliment?" he asked.
"Yeah, be grateful because I don't give those out for free," Chaeyoung smirked from across the table.
"Well then what shall I give you in return?"
Chaeyoung thinks for a minute, wondering what she could possibly ask from the Jeon Jungkook.
She purses her lips before responding, "A favor."
"Is that fair?" he laughed. "I get a compliment and you get a favor that could entail anything."
"Hey, you're the one that asked," she shrugged, simply making the most out of the opportunity.
Jungkook bites back a smile, knowing that he would do anything she asked of him, regardless if he owed her anything or not, "Fine, what is it?"
