Camp Half-Blood - Will Solace
Naturally, Nico was the first one of us to react. While the rest of the demigods present stared and gaped at the gods in disbelief, Nico bowed his head.
"Lady Hecate, father", he greeted politely, which earned a small smile from Hades.
Hecate smirked, then nudged Hades (a little hardly, as a matter of fact). "I like this one", she stated, while Hades rubbed his shoulder and mouthed 'ow'. "Anyways", she continued promptly, "I presume Chiron's filled you in?"
We all nodded politely, recovering from the initial shock of having two gods randomly appear in front of you.
Hades cleared his throat. "You must know", he began, "that we wouldn't ask the three...well, I guess, the five of you to intervene if it wasn't absolutely necessary. That being said, me and Hecate here understand the weight of asking you all to commit four years of your life to..."
"Wait", I frowned, giving me a nudge and a concerned look from Nico that I read to mean: 'you stupid fuck, why would you interrupt a god if you want to live to see the sunrise tomorrow?' Any logical person would stop now and apologize.
I kept talking.
"I thought Chiron said this quest would take seven years? Now it's only four?" I asked.
"Wow, what an improvement. Seven years turned to four..." I heard Thalia mutter under her breath. Nico glared at her.
Miraculously, neither of the gods seemed as though they were going to kill me for interrupting them. Lucky me.
"New information has made it apparent that while seven years would be optimal for this quest, four should...what would you kids say? Four should, ah, do the trick." Hades continued calmly, looking smug about his usage of relatively modern slang.
"Oh, cool."
"As much as I'm enjoying this little catch-up, can we please skip the pleasantries and get just a little more info about this potentially perilous mission that requires us to travel to a world we know practically nothing about?"
Nico and Annabeth looked like they were going to punch Thalia for not holding her tongue, while Percy seemed like he was trying his hardest not to laugh. I probably looked like a lost puppy, and poor Chiron was probably growing more gray hairs by the second watching us have so little regard for our lives.
Hecate narrowed her eyes at the scene. "Sure. First off, I hope the five of you are good actors, because from now on, you are not demigods. You are exchange students from a school called Ilvermorny going to a school called Hogwarts for something called the 'Triwizard Tournament'. It's a famous event that involves schools of magic across the globe in a gesture of camaraderie, but none of you will be participating. Instead, you'll be living among students as semi-permanent members of Hogwarts. Now, usually, you'd be sorted into houses depending on your personality, but I need you all to be focused on ensuring the safety of three very important people: Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley, and Hermione Granger, so you'll all be in Griffindor. Their fates will determine the outcome of this upcoming war, and it is imperative that they survive the following challenges. You'll need to participate as if you were actual students, and I'll age you all down to look 14, as you'll be going into the equivalent of freshman year. You can buy your school supplies at-", but she faltered when she realized Percy was mimicking her rudely.
"Oh don't stop, Professor!" He said with fake eagerness. To everyone's shock and horror, he continued. "I want to get an A!"
Hecate was fuming. "That's it! Get yourselves killed, see if I care! You know what? I've decided you don't need any more preparation, since apparently you know it all now!You have 10 minutes to get your affairs in order before I teleport you to Diagon Alley, and we won't help! No! You'll just have to figure it out!"
And with that, they disappeared as quickly as they'd come, leaving us all glaring at Percy.
