Chapter 4
As soon as I got on the plane, I just sat down, and stared out the window. I didn’t want to talk to anyone, nor did I want anyone to talk to me. But, unfortunately, that wasn’t going to happed, because, not even 2 minutes after I sat down, this guy who looks like he could be 17 or 18 years old, but I couldn’t tell for sure since I wouldn’t look at him, sat down right next to me.
“Hey,” he said. I just ignored him. I didn’t want to talk to him. I didn’t want to talk to anyone. I really hoped that he got the message soon and fast.
“I said, hey.” I still didn’t answer. “You know, it’s rude not to say hello back when someone says hello to you.”
“Yea, well maybe I’m not in the mood to talk.” I still didn’t turn to see him, I didn’t want him to think that he’s gotten me talking now, and that we’ll become instant best friends or something.
“Well, you’re talking now.” My jaw locked. I hated it when people pointed out something that I didn’t want them to. And I definitely didn’t want him to point that out. So, I just continued to stare out the window, waiting for the plane to finally take off. “Well, I guess now we’re playing the silent treatment game again.”
“We’re not playing a game,” I said.
“Well, I just got you talking again, so I would say we are.” I finally turned to the guy sitting next to me, and my I was truly surprised. The guy who was sitting beside me wasn’t the best looking guy I’ve ever seen, but then again, I’ve seen much worse. I would say he’s just above average. He had dark brown hair, with sea blue eyes. He had a defined build to him, which you could clearly see through his fitted white tank top that he wore under his plaid baggy shirt. He looked like he could be about 6’2 or 6’4, but I couldn’t be sure.
After staring at him for what must of seen like a minute or so, I finally found my voice.
“Well, we’re not. So if you don’t mind, I would like to be left along.”
“What’s wrong? Is the little princess sad that she has to leave LA and go somewhere else where she can’t party?” he said sarcastically. How the hell did he know that? Was he some sort of stalker or something? I really didn’t need another one of those.
“What are you, stalking me or something?” He gave me an odd look, almost like I was insane.
“Why would I stalk you? I don’t even know you?”
“Sure, like you don’t know who my mother is.”
“Um, I don’t.” I just looked at him. He was being completely serious. I could see it in his face. He was completely confused.
“Never mind.” I turned back to the window, hoping that he wouldn’t say anything else, and we could have a quiet plane ride to Texas.
“Ok. Well, what’s you’re name anyways?”
“Why?”
“So that way I can actually call you by your name as appose to the girl sitting next to me,” he said. I turned my head back to him, and his a small smile playing on his lips. I couldn’t help but smile back.
“Stella. And you are…?”
“Logan,” he said, and held out his hand for me to shake it. I just looked at it, not knowing if I should or shouldn’t take it. I looked up at his face, and then down to his hand, and did that a couple of times before I decided to actually shake his hand.
“It’s nice to meet you, Logan,” I said.
“It’s nice to meet you too, Stella,” he said.
For the rest of the plane ride, we talked and laughed. And I have to say, I actually had fun. And I found out a lot about him. Like he has 4 brothers and 1 sister, he lives in Texas right by my aunt and uncles farm, and that I’ll probably be going to the same school together. Well, at least I’ll know one person when I finally land in Texas.
“Attention all passengers, we have now just arrives in Austin, Texas. We hope that you enjoyed your flight here with Air Canada.”
“Well, I guess that’s us,” Logan said.
“I guess that is,” I said.
We got up, and Logan helped me get my bag down from the compartment above the seats. We walked off the plane and talked all the way until we got to the place where you get your bags from (not entirely sure what’s it’s called). We got our bags from the lift, and walked out to the lobby of the airport.
“Stella? Oh, my, Stella, is that you? Oh my goodness, you’ve grown up so much!” I heard some famine voice say. I turned to see a woman in a sundress, who looked to be about mid thirties, with her light brown hair just hanging loose, running towards me. I knew instantly that it was my aunt Anna.
“Oh my, Stella, you’ve grown up so much,” my aunt said, as she trapped me in a tight hug. I just stood there for a moment, kind a stunned, and then hugged her back kind a reluctant. I could see Logan standing just behind my aunt, smirking at me. I knew he was trying hard not to laugh, probably to the fact that my discomfort was clearly plastered on my face. I stuck my tongue out at him, and he chuckled.
My aunt finally let go of me, and turned around to face Logan.
“Oh, Logan, it’s so nice to see you,” my aunt said, and turned around, and embraced Logan in a big hug as well. I just looked at them, completely confused. Logan looked at me, and I raised my right eyebrow, sending the question ’what-the-hell?’ He just smiled, and finally let go of my aunt.
“Anna, I didn’t know this was your niece that was coming to stay with you,” he said.
“Yup, this is my niece, Stella. But obviously, I don’t have to tell you that. Well, why don’t we get going back to the farm. Everyone’s waiting to see you again Stella.” I just nodded my head, and we began to head out of the airport. I didn’t know what just happened there. But all I knew was that I might actually like it here in Austin, Texas. But the keyword there is maybe.
