My eyes flutter open, painfully adjusting to the bright light surrounding me. I find myself comfortably tucked in on the sofa, spotting Chae-won sitting on the floor as she leans on the sofa. Her phone screen mirroring to the TV, scrolling through TikTok. 

First thing I see when I wake up...

I watch Chae-won loop the same edit of a k-pop idol, the audio repeating over and over, "He wanna f - r - eeee - a - k," I hear her sing lightly, her eyes glued to the screen.

"Chaewon, what the hell?" I catch her attention, she slowly turns behind to face me.

"Ssshhh," She slowly pulls the blanket over my head, "Go back to sleep, my love"

I kick the blanket off me, slowly getting up. My stomach grumbling is telling me to eat in a very angry way.

"When did Kai leave?" I ask while pouring milk on my cereal.

"So, Kai really did come here," She looks at me, suspiciously, "Tell me everything." 

"Nothing happened, he just cooked for me and watched movies all day," 

"Are you lying?" Chaewon stares suspiciously.

Technically, I didn't lie, I just left out a few details.

"I'm not lying. There's nothing else that would happen between us, seriously." I say, taking a bite out of my cereal. 

"Mhmm~ Sure~" 

"Anyways, you haven't answered my question" 

"He probably left last night 'cause he wasn't here when I got here earlier this morning," I continue to nod in response and finish up my cereal. 

Thank god my first class was canceled today.

I get ready, making sure to feed Minka before leaving the dorm.

"I'll see you later," I wave at Chaewon. She waves back, still staring at the TV. 

I take a quick stop at the gas station near the campus, grabbing myself Kimbap as a quick snack before heading to the campus cafe. 

With the class being canceled and what he did yesterday, he surely didn't buy me coffee today.

Right?

"You didn't think I'd forget, did you?" Someone says from behind me.

"I didn't, but I hoped you did" I turn around, finding Kai with both cups of coffee in his hands. 

"I wouldn't dare," The same damn grin. 

"Don't buy me any more coffee, you've done enough for me," I say, taking the coffee he hands to me. 

"You should higher your expectations, your definition of enough is the bare minimum to me"

"I haven't done anything back to you so it isn't fair"

"Getting sips of your coffee once in a while is enough for me"

"And you tell me to higher my expectations"

"My standard is you, so my expectations have already been reached" I only roll my eyes in response, taking sips of my coffee. 

Did they turn up the heater in here?

I sigh before entering the classroom door, taking a seat in my usual spot behind Beomgyu's row. 

"Didn't know you were weak on alcohol," Beomgyu comments, his body twisted to face me.

"Don't start, Beomgyu" He giggles while turning back around. Just in time, the lights dim as the projector brightens in front. 

"By now, the rest of you should have your ideas set on the project. We'll start working on slides introducing me to your group's proposal for this project, no presenting needed for this. The criteria have already been sent to your emails, each criterion needs to be reached. Unfortunately, time extensions will not be accepted because the project will start right when this week ends." The professor continues to explain the lesson, my coffee thankfully kept me awake.

While taking notes of the lesson, I felt a light pressure on the side of my knee. I glance at Kai, his attention fully on the professor. I sneak a peek under the desk, finding our legs only slightly touching. 

What the hell am I feeling right now? 

My heartbeat quickens, as silent terror seeps inside me. 

Is this another way of my body showing anger?

Focus.

The lesson ended normally, with the usual nagging from Beomgyu before he headed to his class.

"Are you busy after all your classes?" Kai asks, abruptly stopping me from going to the hallway where my class is.

"I am," I lied.

"Oh, with what?" 

"I'm meeting with Chaewon,"

"Can I come?" His expression brightens.

"No, it's only me and Chaewon"

"You guys are roommates, you see each other more than 12 hours a day" Kai whines.

"That doesn't mean we can't see each other still. Anyways, I'm going to class"

"See you, babe" I form a disgusted face before turning around and heading my way through the halls. 

I hurriedly grab out my phone, pressing on Chaewon's contacts on messages.
