"Come on, Nova, we would sit with them," Amelia said when I closed the dorm doors.
"I know you would, but I am tired as fuck, and classes start tomorrow, which is why we need to get a good night's sleep and be prepared," I told them, sounding like my own mom, but I did not care. My belly was full, and I was ready to go to sleep.
"Okay, okay, mom. But you will have to say yes when he talks to you in the future." So Zoey told me and began to change into her pajamas.
"Guys, I don't even know if he will talk to me again; I did not even look at his whole face; I was so shy that I didn't look him in the eyes," I said, embarrassed. They smiled at me. "Also, he was handsome; there is no reason for him to talk to me." I sadly smiled.
"Are you kidding us right now? You, my dear, my shorty, are a gorgeous girl with even more gorgeous eyes, and I meant it; I have never seen eyes like this." She warmly smiled at me and hugged me.
"Thank you guys, thank you so much." I honestly told them and hugged them all.
After that and our session in the bathroom where we did skincare and all the shit to look good for the next day, I was safe and sound in my bed. I had a hard time falling asleep, but eventually, sleep wins.
I am not a morning person. Not at all, but when my alarm woke me up, I was ready to start a day. I was ready to begin my first year at Ohio State University and was happy that I chose English and Literature as my major.
I brushed my teeth, combed my hair, and did light makeup. Then I got dressed. I chose a forest green hoodie and a pair of black leggings; even if it is the first day of many, I don't want to be uncomfortable in my clothes, which is the safest option. Finally, I woke up Zoey because her classes started one hour after mine, grabbed my backpack, and I'm off to the first lecture, Creative Writing.
I opened the door to the lecture hall, said good morning to the professor, apparently waiting for the right moment to start, and then sat in the middle rows because that's where I had the best view. As I began to take my things out of the backpack, I felt a presence beside me.
"Hi, you are Nova, right?" the person asks and smiles. He seemed familiar, but I couldn't quite put his face to someone I know.
"Uh, yeah, I am Nova. And you are?" I stared at him, confused because I didn't know how he knew my name.
"My name is Sawyer; I'm Hudson's best friend." He introduced himself and smiled. I smiled back. "Can I sit next to you?" he asks again, and I nod.
Well, safe to say that the lecture was good even though Sawyer made fun of probably all the things that were near us or he made fun of the professor.
"So how come you are in Creative Writing?" I ask him, making my way through the doors.
"Ah, I knew this would have to come out. So to make this story short, I am a psychology major, but I didn't like any of the other electives I could choose from, so I ended with Creative Writing." He held the door for me, and I smiled. "What about you? Are you an English and Literature major, or am I guessing wrong?" He pulled me closer to his side when he saw some students running in our direction.
"Your guessing is right. I like to read, and literature has always been my passion, so that's how I ended up here." I also thanked him for saving me from those students. We talk for a while, but he has to go because of football practice.
We parted ways, I went to another lecture, and then there was lunch. I grabbed a small bite from the dinner and ate it before the last lesson of the day. When I finally came to the dorm, I was exhausted. I greet the girl and plop myself on the bed. I wanted to sleep.
Close your eyes, then.
Okay, but just for five minutes.
I woke up to some music blasting through the bathroom, and when I opened my eyes, I didn't see anything. Am I fucking blind or what? I started to shout so that the girls would hear me, and when someone finally opened the bathroom door and saw the light, I was thankful.
"What's the matter? Something happened?" Amelia asks with worry on her face.
"No, nothing's wrong. I just thought I was blind or something cause I fell asleep, and there still was light from the outside, but when I woke up, I didn't see anything, just pitch black." I laugh and see that Amelia is looking at me with a look, "are you kidding me?"
"Sorry." I apologized.
She then started to laugh like a mad woman, and I joined her too. I can't believe I am that stupid to think I was blind for a second. The twins came running into the room and asked what had happened.
"She...." Amelia started, "She thought..." another burst of laughter, "She thought.....she was blind for a second because she didn't see any light," and then she started cackling. The twins just stared at us and didn't say anything.
"Sorry guys, you should see that; I thought she was having a bad dream and not this," Amelia told them before exiting the room.
After a while, we decided we would have a movie night, but Amelia and Zoey kicked Brooklyn and me out because they wanted to do the pillow and blanket fort and told us to go to the store for some drinks and snacks. So, that is how I ended up in Walmart at 9 PM.
"I will look for the right drinks, and you can go and grab the snacks." Brooklyn smiled at me, and she was nowhere to be seen when I blinked. Huh, she must like the drinks too much.
I started looking for the right snacks we could share, but I still ended up with Cheetos and Lays. I don't like Cheetos, but I know that Amelia would kill for them; at least, that's what she told me. I am more of a sweets girl, so after grabbing the chips, I make my way over to the sweets aisle.
"Hmmm, what should I get?" I asked myself a bit more loudly than I anticipated.
"You should get Reese's Peanut butter cups and Sour patch kids." Someone answered my questions from behind me. I turned around, perhaps too quickly, because I stumbled and almost fell to someone's chest. I looked up and saw the most beautiful green eyes I had ever seen.
"Hi Nova, remember me?" he asked.
Hudson.
"H-hi..." I stutter out. I looked down because I felt myself getting redder.
He smiled at me, and I still felt his eyes on my face; when I looked up, I could tell that this green would be my new favorite color from now on.
"How are you?" he started to chat with me, and I was still a little shy because he was so handsome and talking to me.
"Um, yeah, I'm good. Little exhausted, but I slept through the afternoon mostly, woke up and thought that I was blind for a second, had a laugh, and then we decided to watch a movie, and we didn't have snacks, and now I am rambling and telling you my whole day..." I face-palm myself and then just hid my head in my hands.
Hudson chuckled, and then large hands found my own and got them off my face. I felt warm and fuzzy, and it was a great feeling, but I didn't know why. He was looking into my eyes just like he knew the things I was thinking about.
"Don't hide; I like your ramble, which was cute." He laughed, and I felt even more embarrassed.
"Um, thank you for the recommendation, you know." I pointed to the Reese's and Sour patch. He smiled, and then, as he didn't know he was still holding my hands, he let me go.
"Also, Sawyer mentioned that you two met and also that he didn't see your black-haired friend today." He smirked, and I was surprised because he didn't mention Amelia the whole time we talked.
"Oh, Amelia? I will ask him about that the next time I see him. "I chuckled. "But yes, we met this morning." I smiled softly. Suddenly, his phone goes off. He smiled apologetically and waved me a bye. I smiled back and went to the drinks aisle, where I found Brooklyn with almost a whole basket of drinks. She smiled at me like a kid on Christmas.
This gonna be a long night.
But you can dream about green eyes.
I will not.
Oh yes, trust me, you will.
