Life was simple for a Brotherhood soldier, at least it was for one, a knight named Yuriko. She had a system in place on how she did things and most of the time things went as planned. She'd wake, eat, take a mission then returned home to the airport to rest or recover. She would often keep a keen eye out while on missions, looking to see if she'd run into her younger sister. Most times she wouldn't but every so often she'd come across the red headed, teal tipped nomad in passing. The two would talk only for a couple minutes, exchange some items then be on their own way. They lived two completely different lives.Kimikyo spent most her days venturing through the Commonwealth. She never stayed in one place for too long, which was how she liked it. Too many times she had seen raiders or gunners attack settlements, so staying on the move meant she'd stay alive, at least that was her mindset. She never left the Commonwealth since arriving years ago with her sisters and brother. She knew where they all were but kept her distance from her sisters, as one was a soldier and the other worked with the Institute. Both would pull her in their ways, attempting to have her join them and their respected factions. The four hardly saw each other anymore. The four siblings had their own lives and no one could tell them otherwise.
It was on a rather peaceful day that her quiet life would change, for better or worse but that was all up to fate. She had made her way north from Grey Garden after restocking on supplies. She had just made it to Concord only to hear a fire fight. She pulled out her only gun, a small hand pistol. She did her best to sneak around the raiders but failed in doing so, with no choice she began firing at them. Once the three raiders were down a man called out to her from a balcony. "Think you can help us a bit more?" She looked at him as she shrugged. "I can try. I'm not really a fighter though." She replied. "We'll take any help that's offered. Grab that laser musket off that fallen minute man and make your way up." She looked at the bodies that laid before her. Doing as she was instructed to do, she gathered the weapon and made her way up to the small group. She fought her way to the top of the building to see only a handful of people.
Preston met with her at the door to the small room. He looked exhausted and ready to give up on everything. "We're glad you arrived when you did. We really needed the help." "Anytime." "I hate to ask but could you help with one more thing?" "That depends on what it is." She shrugged. "Just help us get to a safe place and in return we'll give you all the caps we can." She looked at the pitiful man's face before sighing. "No caps needed. I know a place. It's called Sanctuary and it's not far from here. I'll help you get there as best as I can." "Thank you." He gave her a small but frail smile. Though Preston was pleased with the new addition something didn't sit right with Sturgis. He noticed that she was barely hurt. Sure there were stimpacks that increased the regeneration but there still should be some marks or even blood. No one knew what happened once she entered the building, just that she came to help and for now that's all that mattered.
The small group began making their way towards Sanctuary when a deathclaw crawled out of the sewers. "Oh no." Kimikyo turned and looked at the charging beast. "Everyone run!" She shouted to the settlers, whom took off running while she and Preston stayed behind to take out the territorial deathclaw. The battle was long and hard but once it was dead the two regrouped with the others at the Red Rocket Station. Preston was helping his new friend walk, her arm wrapped around his neck while she held pressure to her wound. "That was something." He laughed. "I feel like I'm going to puke." She groaned. Her expression held annoyance and pain. "That would be the adrenalin high going down. I'll get you patched up and a stimpack once we get to this Sanctuary." "It's just up this road." She pointed towards the decaying bridge.
Once they arrived they noticed a frantic looking woman talking to the Mister Handy. The woman rushed over to the group. "H-Have you seen a man with a baby?" She was panicked and worried. "No ma'am. We just got out of Concord. Besides raiders, we were the only ones there." Preston explained. Hearing this made the woman loose hope. "I may know someone though. He's on old detective from Diamond City. I heard he helps in lost people cases." Preston quickly explained, trying to be helpful to the woman as best as he could. "I can take her there, I was going to head that way after resting a bit. Kimikyo, by the way." Kimikyo spoke up as she was given a stimpack by Preston. "I'm... I'm Nora." The woman replied. "I'll leave you to it then. I have to get these guys settled. Thank you again, by the way." Preston gave both the women a nod. Kimikyo did rest only for a few hours before she and Nora set out.
