Chapter 24: Finale

You're woken by a knock on the bedroom door, it's Namjoon. Taehyung slides out of bed and walks over to the door. They whisper back and forth to each other, so you can't hear them but you know it's serious. Namjoon never wakes Taehyung up unless he has to. He never comes into your bedroom unless he must.

Taehyung nods and comes back over to you on the bed.

"What's up?" You ask.

"Your detective friend is here to see you," he says.

"Detective Choi?" You ask. When Taehyung nods you chuckle and say, "I wouldn't call that guy a friend."

"I'd say he disagrees or why else all the house calls?" Says Taehyung with a laugh as you slide out of bed.

"Do you want back up?" your boyfriend asks.

You shake your head as you walk toward the bathroom. "He'll get more excited if you're with me."

"What can I say? I have that effect," says Taehyung.

"On cops?" You ask.

"And special agents," he says with a shrug.

You laugh as you go into the bathroom and prepare for war. That detective is here to interrogate you and you're going to give him absolutely nothing.

Choi Yeonjun is handsome, you'll give him that as you walk toward where he waits in the living room.

"It's early detective," you observe as you shake his hand and sit across from him on the couches.

"I don't like to waste time," says Yeonjun.

"Ok," you say. "So how can I help you?"

"Your in laws have been murdered," says the detective.

You blink. "Excuse me? What?"

"Your father in law, your mother in law and your brother in law were all three murdered yesterday," says Yeonjun.

You blink again. Your eyes going past Yeonjun to stare off into the distance and then you look at him again and ask... "what?"

"You didn't know?" Asks the detective. "It's all over the news."

"They're the family killed in that mansion?!" You ask, you infuse your voice with shock, but of course you knew they were dead. And of course you know who killed them.

"Yes it was your husband's family," confirms the cop.

"Oh my god," you say slowly, your mind processing that he came straight to you first thing in the morning. Not good. "Does Cole know?"

Now it's Choi Yeonjun's turn to blink.

"Does your missing husband know that his family is dead? I don't know. He's missing."

"Still?!" You ask, annoyed. "He won't answer my calls but someone has to tell him that his parents are gone. Oh my god and his brother. That's going to be a shock. How will he survive this? He has no one."

"Are you saying that you believe your husband is alive?" Says Choi Yeonjun.

You gasp. "Are you saying that he's not?"

"He hasn't been seen or heard from in months," says the detective.

"He had cash. He got it from Taehyung. He's more than capable of being fine but not calling his family. He's done it before." You tell the detective. "Fuck! I can't believe they're dead."

"There were no finger prints at the scene. No one appeared on the security cameras, there was no forced entry and yet three members of one of Korea's most powerful families are dead. The three remaining members," Yeonjun speaks with a stilted rage laced in his voice.
