Will's POV
"I have no clue who you are talking about!" She screamed again and Cole laughed like a maniac. He slapped her again and I saw a tiny drop of blood flowed from Corinne's mouth. We had been at this stupid questioning for an hour. Cole patience was wearing thin, me and Keaton could tell. "Cole, lets take a break." I put my hand on his shoulder and felt how tense his muscles were. He lost his sister to that maniac but we couldn't endanger these girls to find him. "No, we need to find him, it's our mission Will!" He turned and screamed, his heart rate picked up and I could see the monster he tried to contain being let out. "Cole, calm down, don't make a scene." Keaton came over and laid his hand on Cole's other shoulder. I watched as the blond's eyes slack. The stars which intrigued many women disappeared. His arms slacked and he put a hand up towards his head. "You're right, maybe I just shouldn't do this." I shuddered at the thought of hitting the red haired girl but I kept my emotions in check. Emotions could kill you in this job.

Me and Keaton lead Cole over to a small box in which he pulled out a couple sandwiches. I sighed as we sat silently. "I'm going to call Lauren." I stated and put my sandwich down. I picked up my phone and dialed the number. I counted the number of rings. After four dings I heard a familiar voice. "CEO Styles office, this is Ms. Maynus, how can I assist you?" I smiled and chuckled at her official attitude toward her job. "Ms. Maynus, this is Mr. Herondale, I would like to speak to you." I heard a shuffle on the other end of the phone. "WILL! How are you! How is the trip?!" She sounded so excited. I laughed and put the phone to my left ear so I could hear better. "Fine, how is the office life?" "It is okay, I mean it is boring, but pretty good money. Now what do you need, Mr. Herondale?" She giggled in the other end of the phone. I sighed, time to get to work. "I need you to look up case #46920. We have found people living in the forest." I heard tapping and a couple of clicks then she spoke again. "The #46920 case... Ah, here it is. Will, it says there is only Mr. Jackson that lives in those woods. No one else has been confirmed to live in those terrible trees."

Corinne's POV
Blood. It flows in weird ways. Sometimes it is faster than other times. This was one of the times were I could feel the blood in my veins speed up. I don't know what happened but I felt a fire spark in me. I was on the floor watching as the man with the black hair seemed to be talking to no one. He held a small black device up to his ear and laughed at random intervals. I could also here footsteps behind my back. I breathed out and turned my head. I saw the man who had questioned me earlier glaring down. He knelt down and took the top of my shirt and pulled me into a standing position.

"Where were you born?" He asked but I just paused. We had never known where we were born, or who had given us life. The terrible old man told us that a woman, like us, had to give birth to other life forms. I watched as the blond haired man drew back his hand. "Tell me... NOW!" I hissed and spat in his face then heard a voice I knew all to well. "The circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant, it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are." I saw the man's eyes widen as I saw a swirling mass of water come from behind. I felt cold water rush into my lungs as the heartless man dropped me. He screamed and backed away. I coughed and my vision blurred. I saw a tiny girl drop down in front of me. "Don't worry, I got you." She suddenly turned and I saw water circulate around her thin form. "Maya..." I felt my blood drop again as I smiled the tiniest of smiles and blacked out.

Maya's POV
I didn't know what was happening till it happened. One minute I was laying on the floor in a daze and the next I was wiggling free of my bonds. I can still he feel the rough, red marks penetrating my skin. I remember seeing someone holding Corinne. Not in the loving way that I have heard about from the books the old man gave us, but a harmful way. I felt my soul light up like one of Corinne's fires and I felt the cold rush of power flow through my veins. "Where were you born?" I heard the man say. "Tell me... NOW!" I saw his hand raised and I heard a small hiss coming from my older sister. I then remembered something Corinne had once told me. Sitting under an oak tree I stared up at the green leaves, thinking of who my so-called mother was.

I never had a real mother, or a father. I only had Sophie and Corinne. And the old man of course but he was no parental figure. I remember Corinne sensing my pain and hugging me close. "Listen, Maya. Don't think about it to much. The circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant, it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are." I smirked as I recited the beautiful quote and a wave of cold water spun me into the air. I landed and felt as the blue water crashed down on the man, hopefully giving me time to get to Corinne.

I rushed over to Corinne's side. She looked paler than normal. Her breathing was flat and slow. I shuddered and said something only Corinne would say, "Don't worry, I got you." I saw a smile move across her lips then disappear. I yelled in anger and formed a sword from water. I turned quickly toward where the man once stood and saw two other men with him. I knew I couldn't beat them all. "Give up little girl. We won't hurt you." The one with tan skin and black hair cooed. I backed up another step, then another. I picked up Corinne's lifeless body slowly. She was heavier than I but I knew I had to get her out of there. I saw her eyes flicker and I laughed. "Never get used to any anybody, they can leave at any moment." I turned and ran.

I ran for the clear part of the wall, glass I think it was called. I rammed into the clear rock with all my strength and it shattered. Clear, sharp pieces of pain spread into the sky like a disturbed group of birds. I felt the warm air of summer rush through my hair as I fell to the ground. I felt Corinne move and shelter me with her body. I felt the shock of the ground as it hit her at lighting speed. We quickly got up and I picked her up again, noticing her leg was twisted. "Don't worry about me," she stated as she formed a cane out of coal, "just run!" That was the last thing I remember before the chase.

Old Man's POV
I felt a smile come to my lips as I plunged the needle deeper into the tiny girl. I had missed her. I had missed her power that ran through her veins. I pulled out more of her life support source, her blood, as I smiled. I knew this would kill her. No one could stop me. I am like a vampire, only out for blood. But not just any blood, certain blood. Blood that with turn me into the most dangerous criminal. And all little Sophia had to do was suffer abnormal abuse.
