When Takaaki was in the hospital, Miyako had always seemed more open. Then, when he was finally released from his prison, he could finally take her out on a real date. Only...
The first date was wonderful. They had a few playful fights, Takaaki commented on her wanting everything she saw in a clothing store window, they had a nice casual dinner in the park.
It was amazing.
The second date was canceled then pushed back a week, only to have her disappear right in the middle of it.
The third date they had their first kiss. Sweet and short. Simple.
She disappeared half an hour after that.
...***~~~~~~~~~***...
Miyako kept up the disappearing act. The last view Takaaki would see of her each time was her curly blond pigtails bouncing as she ran off.
Simple.
So Takaaki kept things simple.
He stopped wasting money on fancy or even semi-fancy dates. He kept things simple. Picnics, homemade meals... That kind of stuff.
But her running off always kept him wondering, did she really like him as much as she said she did?
...***~~~~~~~~~***...
One day, he saw her off giggling with her friend Momoko Akatsutsumi with her friend Kaoru Matsubara off to the side rolling her eyes.
Then, a boy came over, blushing beet red, and handed Miyako an envelope.
When she read it, she smiled sympathetically at the boy. "Sorry, Kai, I have a boyfriend."
Momoko giggled some more while Kaoru scowled.
"Kai, if you wanted to ask out Miyako, you could've just asked me if she was single at soccer practice yesterday!"
Kai blushed. "You're not exactly approachable, Kaoru, what with you kicking my brother's butt because he said you looked good in a skirt."
Momoko and Miyako burst out laughing.
"Hey Miyako," Takaaki approached her on his wheelchair. "Can we talk?"
...***~~~~~~~~~***...
Miyako and Takaaki, sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G
Not.
"Miya, I need to ask you this," Takaaki took a deep breath. "Whydoyoualwaysleaveduringourdates?"
Miyako looked surprised, like she hadn't expected the question to come up.
"I-uh-I," Miyako sighed. "See, professor, I told you he'd get suspicious!" Miyako whisper-shouted.
Takaaki raised his eyebrows.
"Well, you see, Taki," Miyako placed a hand on the armrests of his wheelchair. "You know the Powerpuff Girls?" She blurted out, out of the blue. Takaaki nodded, unsure of where this was heading.
"You know who Bubbles is?" She inquired.
Again, Takaaki nodded.
"I'm Bubbles," Miyako sighed.
Takaaki blinked. This was not what he was expecting.
"What do you mean?"
Sighing, she pulled out a compact from her belt. The screen lit up and Miyako was engulfed in a glowing white light.
"Rolling Bubbles!"
Takaaki blinked. "Do you still want to be with me?" Bubbles whimpered.
He kissed her hand. "Does that answer your question, Miyako?"
