Penny is an NPC and one of the twelve marriage candidates who live in Stardew Valley.
Penny lives with her mom, Pam, in a little trailer by the river. While Pam is out carousing at the saloon, Penny quietly tends to her chores in the dim, stuffy room she is forced to call home. She is shy and modest, without any grand ambitions for life other than settling in and starting a family. She likes to cook (although her skills are questionable) and read books from the local library.
She also serves as a teacher to Vincent and Jas, which she admits isn't always easy, though she still enjoys doing it.
Heart Events Two Hearts
Town, 9 am - 2 pm, sunny weather
George is trying to access his mailbox but cannot reach a letter, Penny walks up and assists him, but then he complains about it. The farmer can side with Penny, George, or remain neutral affecting her affection for you.
"I was. You did a kind thing there, Penny." +50 friendship points.
"I was. You should've asked instead of assuming George wanted help." Unknown friendship points.
"I'm just taking a walk, minding my own business." No change in friendship points. Afterwards, she will comment on how it must be hard growing old. You again are given a range of options but none have an impact on Penny's affection for you.
Four Hearts
Enter Pam and Penny's trailer in the morning or midday when only Penny is there to trigger the event. You catch Penny struggling with cleaning the trailer, she is embarrassed at first but you automatically offer to help. The two of you successfully clean the trailer just before Pam shows up. Then Pam and Penny get in an argument while the player is still present.
Six Hearts
Enter Pam and Penny's trailer at midday when only Penny is there to trigger the event. Penny is just finishing cooking a new recipe she invented. She gives you a taste of her food to eat, and the player takes a bite. Judging from how green you become the food must be terrible. Regardless of your choice you and Penny simply settle on watching a movie for the evening, however, your answer will affect her affection meter.
"(Lie) Mmm! That was delicious!" +50 friendship points "Uh... can I get the rest to go?" -50 friendship points "Well it's definitely unique... how did you get it so rubbery?" No change in friendship points. Afterward she thanks you for being her taste-tester and suggests you watch a movie.
Eight Hearts
Forest, 9 am - 4 pm, any weather
Enter the forest area with Leah, Marlon, and Marnie's houses during a time when Penny is on her "free time". Penny will be having a picnic with Jas and Vincent playing by the water. Penny states she brought the children on a field trip, so she asks the player if s/he can be her guest speaker for the children and talk about country life. Your response will affect her affection for you.
"I'd love to!" +10 friendship points. "Sure." no change in friendship points. "No... I can't stand kids." -1500 friendship points. She proceeds to teach the children about the subject but then she calls the player to speak and the player is given a series of things to say to the children. Depending on your answers the kids will ask different questions. Afterward, Penny talks to the player about how it's tough to teach the kids, however, she doesn't mind and actually enjoys seeing them grow and learn new things. She then asks you if you want kids of your own. Your response will affect her affection for you.
"I haven't really thought about it." no change in friendship points. "Absolutely. I want a big family." +20 friendship points. "I guess so. It's a natural urge." +20 friendship points. "No, I don't think I'd be good at it." +10 friendship points. "No, The world's crowded enough already." -10 friendship points. "No, I don't want to be tied down with a family." -10 friendship points.
Ten Hearts
Spa, 7 pm - 12 am, any weather
Penny will send you a message asking you to meet her in the bathhouse after dark. When you arrive she will ask you if you know why she asked you here. She will then tell you her true feelings. Your response may affect her affection for you.
"I feel the same way about you." no change in friendship points. "Sorry, but I don't like you in that way..." -1500 friendship points.
Marriage
On a rainy day, you must go to the east part of the beach (only accessible after donating 300 wood to fix the bridge). There you'll see an old mariner and he will sell you a precious item you should give to Penny to let her know you want to marry her. She will agree and ask for three days to prepare the ceremony. After the wedding, she will move in with you.

Regular "We're lucky to have a library in a small town like this." "The raindrops on the roof of our trailer are really loud... But it's soothing!" "I'm eager to move out.
