"Dilaurentis!"

"Y-Yes sir?" I asked my boss nervously as I stood up from my desk.

Today is my first day at work and I couldn't be anymore nervous.

"Looks like you get to partake in a little piece of action today," he smirks at me.

"W-What do you mean?"

"We have a 418 down at the corner of 1st and Hindry St."

"But sir I-"

"Don't worry rookie. I'm not gonna send you out there completely alone. Ronnie here is your partner and he will be driving ya," he told me as he pulled some guy over. I must admit that he is kind of cute, but I have a boyfriend.

"Lanks," Ronnie extended his hand out to me.

"I'm sorry?"

"Lanks. It's my last name. It's a thing around here," he smiled as we began to walk out the building and towards the patrol car.

"Oh. Well I prefer to go by my first name if you don't mind"

"Okay. But you have to tell me it first," he chuckled.

"R-Right...I'm Alison"

"Okay well Alison?"

"Yes?"

"Are you ready for your first real exciting day on the job?"

"Real?"

"Yea. A 418 on the first day? I can't tell if that's beginner's luck or if Lt. Wilson really likes you," he said as we both got into the car and buckled up.

"Wait, what's a 418?" I ask nervously as Ronnie expertly maneuvers the car out of the lot and speeds off with the sirens on.

"Oh c'mon Dilarent-...I mean Alison. It's like every cop's dream to get something as big as this"

"Okay. But I still don't remember that code since there were only thousands of them for me to remember for the exam," I said sarcastically.

"Well excuse me then. Haha a 418 means that we're dealig with a big drug bust. It must be a case that has been looked over for years and we finally get a chance to take them down," he said excitedly.

"What's so exciting about that?"

"Do you know what it could do for your career if you catch all of the people involved? Especially the one in charge. I've dreamed of this day"

"Oh, well I haven't," I sighed as I looked out to the window trying to mentally prepare myself for the situation. We're only a couple minutes away.

We fell into a silence for 30 seconds before Ronnie broke it.

"Why did you want to become a cop?"

"How are you able to talk while driving like a maniac?" I ask genuinely curious.

"Just answer the question Dilaurentis..."

"I-I...Lanks watch the road!" I pointed at a car that he barely missed.

"I thought you didn't like last names?" He smirked.

"Just shut up and get us there in one piece, please"

"You're quite the feisty one Ms. Dilaurentis," he grinned.

"Are you flirting with me?" I laughed as I raised an eyebrow.

"Is it working?"

"I have a boyfriend"

"And I have a cat-...oh look, we're here! We'll continue this conversation later Alison," he said he got out of the car and quickly began to retrieve the necessary materials from the back.

Welp, here goes nothing. A 418 on my first day. Why on earth did I think I was capable of being a cop? I am only 22 and have my whole life ahead of me. But I have to remember...this is for Jason. I will find his killer.
