Jonathan would soon go researching, and he would spend 7 months analyzing and creating a toxin. Jonathan Successfully found a plant and would use animals as test subjects in his own laboratory he built in his basement, he would specifically use guinea pigs, for it and they would end up running around the glass box and would slowly die. Jonathan end up mixing the flowers and he would continue his experiments, Jonathan would start to work on his final product. and would end up with putting it in brown foggy tubes, and would save it.
Since Crane was a licensed psychiatrist, he began testing it on Arkham inmates.
The Inmates with the gas sprayed on to them, 100% of them would report seeing apparitions of dead family members, disfigured monsters, and dark shadows, they would overall report seeing what they most feared. One specific inmate had reported seeing the shadow of a large man in a all black covered suit in a dark hallway with pointy ears, they would not be able to sleep for the past week.
Here's What a recent inmate would describe after having the gas sprayed on him:
"OH GOD, PLEASE! MAKE IT STOOOOPPP!" as they would cry in fear, that inmate had seen his father which he had murdered arrive in his cell.
The Arkham higher officials would then notice how far these were taken, they would then let Jonathan know that he was fired.
Jonathan at first was saddened to know that he was fired, but after a few days later he knew nothing could stop him from continuing his experiments, he would start to kidnap homeless men and drag him to his basement and lock them up in rooms he specifically made for them.
He would use more ingredients to make the toxin stronger, as he tested it on patients.
The Cops would then knock on the door.
Jonathan's abusive grandmother would then open the door, and the cops would then ask "Hi ma'm, Is Jonathan crane here at the moment? "Um- yes, I believe so." His grandma would then ask the cops "Come with me, I believe he's in his basement."
As Jonathan would begin to work on his gas toxin, he would begin to hear knocking on his door by his grandmother. "Jonathan, what the hell did you do, get the hell out of the basement!"
The cops would then slowly push her to the side and they would then scream "GCPD OPEN UP!"
Jonathan would then begin to worry and start to pick up his toxin gas and put it in a box and hide it in a secret location, he would also turn the lights off.
"IF YOU DON'T OPEN THE DOOR WE WILL BREAK IN!" The officers would then start to look at each other, and start to kick down the door.
The officers would finally kick down the door, grab their guns out of their holsters, and the door would roughly fall down the steps toward the basement.
The basement would be pitch black and they would walk slowly down the stairs while aiming their guns. they would arrive on at the basement, slowly turning left and would not be able to see anything in the pitch dark. The officers would begin to walk slowly then view a room, a room which had a body of a man shaking uncontrollably. The officers would then have a disturbed look on his face and one say "What the fu-" and would then hear a tapping on his shoulder, they would slowly turn around and Jonathan would spray them in the face with his fear toxin. They would then notice two different things. One would begin to see a figure of a man, a man in a suit with a bald head, pale white face, smiling, with sharp teeth, and black eyeballs. The other one would then notice a creature, with little strands of hair, very skinny to the part where you cn see his bones from his stomach, naked sitting and criss crossing in front of them facing the other way, shaking back and fourth, and would murmur to himself, it would start to slowly turn around and would walk in a dog/horse like position, it would turn upside down, and start to run towards him. Both of the cops would scream in fear. Jonathan would then start to walk in front of the cops, in a huge sigh of relief, would then feel a power pot hit his head, and he would then fall on the floor. Jonathan would then slowly wake up seeing himself being dragged up the stairs. he would then be dragged towards the abandoned family chapel, and he would fell his grandmother start to spit on him, then kick him, and he would would then grunt in pain.
All of a sudden his grandmother would grab an old stake of wood and slowly approach him, she would then feel a bite on the back of her head. She would turn around view a crow start to bite her and she would try to use her hand to get it away, a bunch of crows would then start to bite her and she would scream in pain. Her eye balls would get eaten alive, her stomach would get bit. Jonathan would get back up to view what was happening to his grandmother, he was shocked.
As he did and he would turn his head right, he would then view a scarecrow on the field outside of the family chapel, Jonathan would then slowly leave the abandoned family chapel. He would walk towards the scarecrow he saw on the field and stare at it. He would then take the mask off the scarecrow and put it on him and would finally know who he was meant to become, The Scarecrow.
