Storms usually follow her like a plague.

Her entire presence was hazardous for both creatures on land and in the waters. There was no one that could stop such a murderous being as Mara. But it wasn't her fault per se. It's only her nature to be so cruel. Sirens are not ones to be messed with so lightly. But with Mara especially, looking at her directly itself was a death sentence. There were no hints of good in her. At least not anymore. But in the world of the oceans being kind often means being weak. That is the reason why mermaids are vigorously hunted like cattle as they are.

Attack or be attacked. Eat or be eaten. Kill or be killed.

That was how it was in the great-wide oceans. You'll have to do anything deemed necessary for survival. Sirens are already at the top of the ocean food chain. But Mara was something else entirely. Not only does she have the beauty of a thousand sirens itself but her abilities go beyond any mystical creature that ever swam through the ocean. She holds power in her delicate clawed hands but having such power comes at a price. A price that is honestly cruel to both Mara and every single living being in the world.

The feelings of compassion, empathy, and love are beautiful things. Most creatures have them. Most but Mara. That's what makes her so deadly. A powerful being without any compassion, empathy, and love is cable of such destruction.

And destruction she indeed causes.

Wherever she swims, there's always a bloody trail of tragedy and devastation. Whether it was the storms her presence caused or when its she feasts, it doesn't matter. Mara was doom in all of her horrifying glory. A true embodiment of evil. The witch of the great seas.

It was a regular gloomy afternoon. The ocean waves were surprisingly calm and mellow despite the dangerously hungry creature that was swimming right below them. Mara swam through the chilling waters of her territory with speed. Her wispy black hair floating behind her blended with the darkened waters, causing her ghostly pale skin to be a stark contrast to her surroundings. Her sharp eyes darted up to the surface of the ocean and she swam up without a hint of hesitance.

Mara poked her head out of the water but left anything below her nose still underneath the surface. Her golden-colored eyes darted around the sandy area of land for any human stupid enough to be lurking around there. This place was notorious for the number of disappearances and murders that Mara has occurred. Due to that, most humans tend to avoid it here which is a bit of a shame. She knew this area like the back of her hand but if there wasn't going to be any food around then there was no point for her to continue loitering around there. As dumb as humans can be, they at least know that whatever was in these waters was incredibly dangerous.

Nowadays, Mara would follow boats and lure sailors with her song. It was thrilling and there was a different type of pleasure she feels when it came to luring ignorant men to their deaths. However, something was wrong. In the last few weeks, there have been no boats around for as far as she can see. It was confusing but Mara was more hungry to sit down and dwell on why there weren't any boats around. That's why she was in her favorite hunting spot. Since it's been a while she came around here, maybe there will be some humans who were stupidly lurking around. She will grab the first human she sees without caution at all.
