The song above is just a vibe

The sun slowly started to set as I waited outside of the Tower, the pinks and purples of the clouds in the sky filled me with anxiety while I watched for Wonder. I never knew I could have developed a sort of hatred for the idea of dusk. I had thought about it enough. My entire day had been filled with reminding myself that if I had been late I would have been no worse off than the villains we fought and got arrested.

Wonder would have made sure to determine that.

I placed my hands in my pockets, taking in even more of the sunset. My current thoughts had not been safe for me, the idea of patrolling with Wonder was something I never knew would happen. But it was definitely happening. The more I stood there, the more I wanted to just go back into the Tower and hide in my room—punishment be damned. Then the thought of Wonder punching my door down reminded me that staying where I was, was the best option for me.

Even though it scared me.

Wonder was someone that provided safety and security for the masses of Night City, but he instilled fear in those under his charge. We were scared of him. His god-like strength and super human abilities were the reasons we stayed wary of him, his ability to fly only added to our paranoia. I had joined the team only three years ago, my first experience with Wonder's powers happening after just one year. We had witnessed him kill a villain that we had been chasing for three months, the man finally meeting his maker with our fearless leader, his death never being disclosed to the press.

From that day, I had learned to be careful about drawing attention to myself—especially with Wonder or even the others—because of the negative outcomes that came after. He held all of us under his thumb, and I knew that from my lack of control he watched me even closer to make sure I didn't kill the others due to negligence. We knew if we were ever going to meet our fate, it was going to be at the hands of Wonder.

"Are you ready?"

I shrieked at the sound of Wonder's voice, my soul feeling as if it had left my body at that moment. Wonder was suspended above me, his face remaining emotionless when I had jumped out of my skin in front of him—not my most defining moment in front of him. I had been more surprised that my reaction had not gotten a reaction out of him, not even a smirk or a chuckle from my embarrassment of the situation.

"Reign?" He asked once more, a brow lifting in my direction.

"Yes sir," I grumbled, shaking off my nerves, "I'm ready."

My body became light, the air around me coming up underneath me as I started to float towards Wonder, something I had become really good at.

Flight.

Out of all my powers, known and unknown, flight had been the one I mastered before anything else. I felt like it would always be, even at that moment, my last resort for escape from everything.

"Let's go," Wonder said, flying off into the city.

I followed him.

The city was alive with the inhabitants of the night and people trying to make it home to their families to end their days, the endless noise of the city drowning out everything. We flew overhead making sure to stay within the cover of the buildings so that we could watch everything below, the silence between us painstakingly quiet. Wonder didn't say a word as we flew through the maze of buildings, his eyes focused on the ground, his head moving slowly from side to side just in case he was able to hear of any disturbances in the city.
