I love my brother. I really do, but he's an idiot. I suppose the fact that he's pretty gets him by with other people. He looks like our mom. Dirty blonde hair and bright blue eyes.

But back to the fact that he's stupid.

We were watching the television when the commercial came on.

"Think you've got what it takes?" The television asked. It cut to different people singing on a stage. Colin Ferrel appeared on the screen, "People need to learn that I don't like my time being wasted." He's just about the biggest asshole in the music industry, but if he likes you, you're in. "Auditions for The Vocalist begin this September." The announcing lady finished.

Jared looked over at me. One of his big stupid grins plastered on his face.

"What?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow at him.

"I think you should audition for that." Jared pointed a finger at the television, which was now showing a commercial for cereal.

"Tony the Tiger can deal. Besides, I'm more of a Lucky Charms kinda girl." I informed him.

"The Vocalist. You should audition for The Vocalist. You'd be great Harlen. I'd vote for you." He flashed a smile.

"What makes you think I'd even get in? You have to be able to sing to compete in stuff like that." I responded.

"You can sing Harley! That's the thing. I know you can sing. I've heard you sing. You're pretty great if you ask me." Jared gushed.

"I don't think Colin Ferrel would appreciate it if I wasted his time." I retorted, looking back at the television.

"I don't think Colin Ferrel would appreciate it if you didn't audition for his fancy shmancy singing competition." Jared got up and let me think about his words for a moment. When he returned he had his laptop in hand.

"What are you doing?" I asked leaning in closer to him to see what he was doing. He was on the website for The Vocalist.

"Seeing when we have to be prepared for your audition."

"I'm not auditioning Jared." I groaned, moving away from him.

"Yes, you are. September twenty-second." Jared shut his laptop and grinned at me. Another one of his big stupid grins.

With that, I came to terms with the fact that I was auditioning for The Vocalist in a month.
