Part 6: Travel

This is sort of a short chapter so I can get used to stuff again, it's basically relationship building so you and Maya aren't complete strangers, but it is lovely to be back, and I'm glad my return was welcomed with such positivity  ^^ - Void Akaban

You had been in the Jungle for a day now, you had never been in the sunlight so much and it showed, Chiapa had stopped running at this point as Maya studied the map "so we're going to rooster island first?" you said, trying to break the silence "yep! there we shall get the Gran Bruja, then we shall go collect the bravest archer from the jungle lands and finally we shall get the puma princes from the golden mountains!" she exclaimed, you nodded "right, and how do you know they ill just come with you and or sacrifice themselves for your cause?" Maya snorted and pulled out eagle claw, pointing it to the sky "because who could deny a chance at adventure and glory!" she yelled as Chiapa roared, you smiled and shook your head "of course, also how did you know about the table? I was quite impressed" 

She looked back at you with a smile "aw thanks and my brothers told me..." you stared at her for a second before placing a hand gently on her shoulder "again I am so sorry for what my Papa did, he has dishonored me and mama" you consoled her, still feeling guilt nag at you "thank you for apologizing Y/N, I doubt your father will ever apologize anyway" she huffed the last part, you shifted on Chiapa so you could look behind you guys, the endless forest meeting you, you looked back to the girl that was leading your big expedition "hey Maya?" she turned back to look at you "yeah?" "Can you tell Chiapa to stop? I'm not used to sitting for this long and my back hurts" she smiled and commanded Chiapa to stop "Thanks Amiga" you said as you stretched, she offered you a smile as you began walking beside Chiapa, you decided to try to show Chiapa affection and scratched his neck, earning a purr "so how long has your family had Chiapa?"

"since I was a child, and he's been a good body-guard since" she patted his head, making him purr "that's so cool, the only other person I know who had a battle jaguar is my friend, and kind of body guard in his own right, Zatz, but you and him didn't meet on the best of terms" Maya grimaced slightly "but trust me he's a really noble and charming person when not threatened by my father!" you said as Maya sighed "I'll make sure I keep that in mind" she said sarcastically, you walked in awkward silence for a while before Maya stopped Chiapa and jumped off, she patted Chiapa "we'll rest here for the night, could you go grabs some fire wood?" you nodded and went off to find some sensible sticks to light a fire with, just as you got out of sight of Maya someone jumped down behind you, startling you as you whipped around, drawing your sword, right into the face of Zatz "Zatz? wait-what are you doing here!?" you asked in a whisper yell "I was sent to find and return you to your father, c'mon" he motioned for you to follow you, you looked at him with an 'are you kidding me?' face "please Y/N" he pleaded, you sighed and shook your head "Zatz, I don't care how much they want me back, I'm not going" he sighed and slumped slightly "fine, just be warned your father is enraged by your betrayal" you nod "not surprised" you said while gathering up the stick you had dropped, but once you looked up, Zatz had vanished 

you walked back out of the foliage and dropped the sticks, Maya smiled "thanks, ill set up the fire" she said as she kneeled down and began making a con of sticks, you glanced up to the sky to try and find your missing friend only to be met with the glow of the blue moon, you sighed and looked back down just as a spark lit the kindling "there we go!" Maya cheered, you sat down beside her as she put her hands in front of the glowing flame, you glanced at her as she reached for her bag, thinking back on what Zatz said before finally relaxing as Maya started telling you stories of her family, you smiling as she laughed at the fond memories...
