"What is love for you, Nandini?"

"Love?" Nandini frowned. The word sounded so foreign on her tongue. Manik nodded his head, his eyes shined even in the broad daylight and lips tugged into a smile, so peaceful and so charming.

Nandini was not unknown to charmers, she had seen too many but something about the man in front of her was different. He smelt like home to her barren heart and it made her wonder if it was even possible for her heart to feel those feelings again. She was a grown up woman, and she was not allowed to feel any of this.

Her head bent down in embarrassment and she heard him sigh as if he had an idea what was going in her head.

"Nandini?" He called out, excited and still eager to hear her view of love,"Tell me, what do you think love is?"

"Love," She paused, trying to find the right words. Manik nodded his head along, encouraging her to speak,"I-It is like reading a book."

"What?" Manik grew curious as she licked her dry and slightly chapped lips and nodded her hand. He watched as she fumbled, turning to him slightly but didn't meet up his gaze.

Where was the woman he had met that day in the party? He wondered if her confidence was limited only to her work? This could be the only case because Manik remembered all the times he had met her clearly.

She was so confident when it came to her work, but so nervous, hesitate and scared when it came to her personal life.

"Yes, Like when you open a new book, you are excited and curious to read more. The way you do when you are in love for the first time, excited and curious. Then as the book keeps on going, there are some points where you feel, no it could be better. Or maybe you get angry at something that doesn't sit well with you. The same way you do when you are in love, there are times when you feel frustrated, sometimes angry and sometimes disappointed. And then when you complete the book, there are two options, first- you don't like it and throw it away - The breakup. The second, you loved it dearly and read it again and again until each and every word of that book gets blended into your soul."

"And then?"

"And then you recommend it to others, ever heard about elders giving advice about love?"

Nandini smiled and he let out a chuckle nodding his head along.

"I like it," he confessed,"your definition of love. It is cool."

"Is it?"

Manik nodded. He looked down as she stared at him.

"What is love for you?" She asked this time. Curious too know what he thought of it.
