Kuroo's POV:

After a long journey in the mountains I was finally on my way back to my hometown. Whilst being away for almost a week I returned with the bare minimum, a 6th class dragon skin,  7 gold and a rusty map I found next to a passed traveler who probably froze to death, which wasn't too surprising due to the fact that it was in the mountains and it was nearing winter.

The noise of a crowd filled my ears as I was passing through the markets that were lined up in the main street. After a few minutes of walking through the town my eyes finally spotted my house. It was a wooden-rock cottage with a short wooden fence lining the front yard.

I went through the nonexistent fence gate and took the keys that matched the key lock on the door.

"I'm home!" I announced when I entered the house. The sweet aroma of my mom's cooking hit my nostrils and I couldn't help but try and guess what it was.

"Welcome back sweetie," My mom's sweet voice greeted me as her head poked out of the doorway, connected to the entrance room to have a good look at me.
"Come on in, the foods almost ready," she said and went back to her cooking.

"Yeah, be there in a minute," I said, already taking off my jacket along with shoes and putting on some slippers.

I put my backpack against a wall, promising myself I won't forget to clean it up afterwards.

I entered the small kitchen with a circular table in the corner and walked over to my mom to look, what she was making.

She had her wavy black hair in a bun, some home clothing and a pink apron.

"Looks delicious" I commented on her food.

"Oh shush," she said with a shy smile. Mom always loved getting compliments but was always too shy to admit it.

"Is dad gonna make it to lunch or is he still working?" I asked

"No, he won't. He'll come back sometime in the evening I think" mom carelessly responded back.

I sat on my usual spot and waited with mom until the food was done.

When the food was ready to serve I volunteered to help with anything but she declined and left me sitting there in silence.

My mind wandered off thinking of everything yet nothing until my eyes subconsciously landed on the chair next to me.

I blankly stared at it, hoping the person that used to sit there would magically appear but the other part of me knew he wouldn't.
