"Hey old friend / How has everything been / Do you still have the memories from then / Or has time took them from your mind / Never knew what I meant to you / but that's ok"

-Dearly Somber, "Hey Old Friend"

Dreading the entire plane ride to Gotham city, it had finally reached its destination. The sky was overcast but not raining yet.

Just as you were terribly expecting, it began to drizzle as you grabbed your belongings.

The wind dropped and it suddenly grew cold, you shivered as goosebumps riddled all over your arms. You internally groaned and put your rain jacket on with a frown—there was no going back. The bright blue skies were now just a pleasant memory.

Alfred drew a watch from his vest pocket and raised the lid. There he was waiting for you with an umbrella and the Rolls Royce.

This you were unsurprisingly expecting as well.

Bruce Wayne is the head of Wayne Enterprises to the people of Gotham City. Just one of many wealthy businesses that operate in the city.

Your initial reason behind buying a car of your own, despite your notoriety, and lack of driving skills, was that you refused to be driven around the city drawing attention to yourself.

Another reason you avoided Gotham.

You hated being in its limelight.

You awkwardly waved at him, struggling to manage your luggage as you came walking out of the terminal. You landed with only five bags. Most of your clothes was to casual for Gotham's standards. Gotham was arduous after all. Bruce said there was no need to pack so much, you would have your fall wardrobe waiting for you.

Another issue to worry about.

He waved back and greeted you with a warm smile.

"Miss Wayne, it's wonderful to see you again after all these years," he said extending a white-gloved hand to take your luggage. "I hope the flight was, pleasant?"

His appearance had no significant change from your last visit to this grim city. A tall slim man, his thinning silver hair covered by a flat cap. He was wearing a black raincoat over his suit and bow-tie. His black shoes, polished and neatly laced.

"The flight was a bit rough, but I'm glad to be back in Gotham," you said trying to sound convincing. You hoped Alfred wouldn't notice the strain in your voice.

Alfred gave you a knowing look, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "I see. Well, let me know if there is anything I can do to make your stay more comfortable."

You took a deep breath, feeling grateful for Alfred's kindness. "Thanks, Alfred. It's really good to see you again. How have you been?"

Alfred smiled at you, the wrinkles around his eyes and mouth prominent. "I've been well, thank you. It's always a pleasure to see you Miss Wayne."

He opened the back passenger door and you made your way inside the car.

"I'm sorry to say your father wasn't able to make the journey today," he announced when you were both strapped in. You shivered as the cold black leather upholstery pierced through your jeans. As the engine was turned on, the heater immediately enhanced the smell of the new car's scent.

"That's ok. I'll just see him back at the manor," you said.

You had been suspicious when it was Alfred that picked you up instead of Bruce, like you both had originally planned.
