ผู้ประพฤติตามอำนาจจิต ย่อมลำบาก He who acts upon his impulses will always end up regretting it

"So you have been found? What if I make an offer, I won't allow you to refuse Nara?" Nara looked up to find the King upon a horse, followed by his guard and Commander of the forces, Nakayama. He looked at Nara with confusion and anger in his eyes.

"Tomorrow at dawn, meet me at the royal pavilion. I'll be waiting for you, Nara"

...

"But was meeting him like that necessary? We have Rathsam and other noble kids who are in the troup. Why him, Your Majesty?"

Thasit looked far into the river, little lanterns lighting the barges still sailing upon it. Turning to Nakayama, who was the only royal with the permission to enter the King's chamber, he spoke,

"He's exceptional. Rathsam doesn't compare, nor do the other nobles. What is in noble birth when there is no talent?"

"But the rumors-"

"I will have heads cut off if that is what it takes, Naga", he spoke in a matter of fact tone and sat down on the cot and gestured Naga to be gone. He bowed and took leave.

"I will have everything I desire. Nobody will stop me, Naga", he said as Nakayama walked out.

...

Nara stood on the bridge that led to the royal pavilion. The broken rock sculptures erected over the sides of the bridge, two steps in front of him; two steps that led to a dark world lit over the suffering of hundreds. He watched as the King walked alone to stand opposite to him, a smile plastered over his face. A man driven by his lust for power, but also one whose power could help him find the truth. He bowed and climbed one step; I will do what it takes father; he promised and climbed the second step. After walking halfway, he stopped, looking at the King who was now frowning doubtfully, mirroring his own frown.

My father would never have stood beside a man as such.

He closed his eyes for a moment, walking again before stopping in front of Thasit. He covered his mouth looking down and chuckling, which made Nara frown with curiosity. He looked back up, walking closer, "you do not fear for your life do you?" Nara looked at him expecting an explanation to that. Thasit flicked his forehead, "looking at the King above the waist gets even royals killed, did you not know?"

"Oh!" Nara immediately lowered his head looking down instead.

"Don't worry. It will be the first thing to go off my Civil Code and the second...", he looked down and grasped his wrists, taking his hands into his own, "...being touched by commoners". He smirked and let go.

"My indraphishek is day after. I expect you to perform; your own performance, not what they taught you". He brushed his hands against his cheek, "I want you to be free and happy when you dance, just as the first time I saw you that day", he spoke smiling, getting curious glances from Nara in return.

"I'll see you tomorrow. Your resting chamber is the same", he spoke and turned around, walking into the palace.

Not once in the past had he drawn so many curious stares. He walked past the training guards and into the kitchen. The situation wasn't any diffferent. Even the lady servant in the kitchen appeared scared to talk to him freely. Nara walked out through the back, heading to his favourite spot along the garden, a secluded spot under the banyan tree.

What shall I do father? Everything is so muddled up. I cannot even think where to begin. He thought and sighed as a boy came and sat beside him. It was the son of the lady servant in the kitchen.
