"Babe your phone is ringing" Jay says sleepily as he gently hits her on the shoulder as they sleep.

Eris groans she rolls over, slapping the bedside table as she try's to find her phone while preserving her sleep. Eventually finding it, she brings it her face, squinting at the bright light as the rest of Chicago still sleeps. LA number? She thinks to her self.

"Hello?" Eris says sleepy.

"Eris?" The voice on the other end ask. Something inside her wakes up and suddenly her eyes are wide open staring at the black room.

"Who is this?" She says not giving away any information.

"My name Isobel Birkhart, I'm the women who adopted" Eris ends the call quickly before she can say anything more. She doesn't want to know anything more.

"Who was it?" Jay asks trying to show as much interest as he can while he try's to sleep.

"Wrong number" Eris lies as she placed her phone back down, she rolls over in her side to face the large glass balcony doors. Lupin sleeps soundly in the moon light.

"Hmmm" Jay says not being able to muster up any further words, he wraps his arms around her as he falls soundly back to sleep. Eris just stares out the balcony doors.

After sometime Eris must of fall asleep as she woke up to Jay placing a coffee on the bedside table and kissing her gently on the head.

"Morning handsome" Eris smiles softly, trying to deflect from the night before. Eris sits up in bed as she reaches for the coffee, rain beats down on the doors outside. A week ago it was roasting heat and now it's middle of winter.

"Hey you!" Jay leans down and kisses her before walking off to the bathroom.

Once she hears the shower turn on, Eris reaches for her phone. Seeing two messages from the same number.

Isobel Birkhart 12:04am
Hi, my name is Isobel and I'm the women who adopted your son 13 years ago.

Isobel Birkhart 12:05am
His name is Lucas and he's been asking about you. I was wondering if you would be up for meeting.

Eris quickly blocks the number and throws her phone on the bed. She doesn't need to be reminded of the past. Her and Jay just got back into a good place, it would destroy him to find out a part of her past she conveniently forgot to mention.

On the drive into the station, Jay drones on about the renovation work he wants to do in the apartment. Completely oblivious to the fact Eris has been checked out of the conversation since the moment she woke up. Her mind preoccupied by other things. For the first time since coming to Chicago she is nervous walking up to the stairs to intelligence, worried what is waiting for her on the other side.

"Eris" Hank shouts from his office, signalling her to enter his offer.

Eris walks through the bullpen calmly, still scared that someone she doesn't want to be is waiting for her on the other side. As she walks past her desk, she touches it softly either with the tips of her acrylics.

"Yup?" She asks as she leans against the doorframe.

"Close the door" Hank instructs looking glumly.

"Ooo feels like I'm being told off by the principle" Eris tried to defuse the situation with humour but clearly there is something wrong and it's not case related.

"You need to see this" Hank hands her his phone. Her stomach drops. The exact same text she had received. Along with 2 missed calls around the same time. "Is it legit?" He asks.

"I think so. I answered one of the calls. She sounded legit" Eris shifts in her seat "I've blocked her and suggest you do the same. No good can come from meeting that kid. No good can come from the kid" Eris rubs her forehead in stress.

"You sure?" He asks staring at the text. She knows he's longing for a relationship with his grandson.

"Dad he is not your grandson. He doesn't know me or you. Or any of our family. There was a reason why I refused to hold him. That child was born from the seed of a satanic rapist who believed the devil would rise again. He had an actual chromosome missing. You think there isn't a possibility that would be passed on? That kid has got a good shot of being normal, if I get involved that chance disappears. I am not going to fuck up that kids life for the second time in 13 years. I am begging you to block that number and don't think about him" Eris explains, trying her best not to lose her temper. She ripped his grandson from him the first time. She never though it would happen a second.

"Yeah you're right" Hanks sighs, as Eris reaches the door a weight is lifted off her shoulders. She turns to face him, holding the door handler behind her back. Slowly opening it.

"Not a word of this to Jay or anyone" Eris smiles softly at her dad but firmly. He nods but clearly uncomfortable. She seamlessly enters the bullpen "ok!" She announces Loudly grabbing everyone's attention as she makes her way over to board, where a large Caramel iced latte. She smiles and winks at Matt as she sips. Jay shifts uncomfortable in his seat but he knows it's nothing.  "Do you have anything more for me?" She asks grabbing the bag of Hershey Kisses from the desk.
