Imagine this...
Chase is about... 14-ish, and he is accepting himself as a bisexual and has a boyfriend. This boyfriend isn't all that good but he still loves him. One day Chase looses control of his emotions while arguing with [said boyfriend], he starts literally fighting him[Boyfriend]. Now at this time let's say he isn't in Law enforcement yet, and he gets angered, sad, etc. easily, and the whole reason he's in law enforcement is to fully understand and learn right from wrong, because his family wasn't a very good example for him.. Or really teach him anything-... But at this time he didn't fully understand/know right from wrong and thought what he was doing was okay. After y'know.. Fighting [Boyfriend] he sorta regrets what he did, uhm... Because [boyfriend] almost said bye-bye to world and ye-... So about a few months later, (of lots of fighting and crap-😒) Chase just looses it and kills [boyfriend]..-... So now whenever he deals with death he is reminded of that moment and it doesn't do his mind any good-😶
