The next early dawn, Keshav returned to the bungalow after making sure Vaanmathi is well asleep. He had also asked the nurses to keep an eye on her until he is back.
The nurses were shocked to notice a doctor staying up all night with a patient.
They hadn't thought badly of him because when they arrived here for morning duty, they observed him through the glass barrier of Vaanmathi's ward door, where her doctor was slumping on the chair beside her, posing no harm to Vaanmathi.
As soon as Keshav attained the bungalow, Vaanmathi's eyes unlocked. She was amused to find that she had slept collectedly. Every other day, she would arouse in the middle of the night or before sunrise, screaming and crying. However, today she was untouched by those aforementioned subjects...
Suddenly, two of the nurses infiltrated her ward, discerning Vaanmathi being awakened. "Tell me, are you comfortable with this new doctor of yours?" One of the nurses queried with concern. They can't let any of their patients be mistreated or used by doctors. Though they were positive that doctor Keshav wasn't an ill-mannered type, they need assurance from Vaanmathi.
"Yes, he is good," Vaanmathi spoke thinking back to Keshav. She was sad that her doctor left her even when she pleaded for him to stay with her. "I thought so, no doctor had remained all night watching out for their patients! He is nice" The other nurse uttered with delight and respect.
Listening to that, Vaanmathi's heartbeat thundered. "He stayed..?" She asked in an unsure way. "Yes, and just a few minutes ago, he got off," Vaanmathi's eyes simmered. No, it was not because she was about to cry. It was strange. Her eyes hurt.
"Sh.." she hissed and touched her eyes, sitting upon the bed. The nurses became worried. "I need to bathe..." Vaanmathi muttered carelessly and went inside the restroom, situated inwardly to her room.
The nurses shared a displeased look but shrugged it off. She will be fine they thought...
Oh, how wrong were they!
Soon as Vaanmathi turned on the shower and eliminated her clothes, her eyes felt as If they were on fire. She rubbed them, wishing the scorching feeling would vanish but it just got so worse that she mourned.
Whereas when both of the nurses came in to provide Vaanmathi her fresh gown and another one nurse began to change the sheets, they heard her sobbing noise.
Instantly, the nurses went close to the bathroom door and called out to her. "Are you okay!!?" In response, Vaanmathi just cried out.
She had now hunched down on the floor, facepalming herself as she wept for the firing sensation in her eyes to stop.
And it did quit when Keshav stepped into the room. Glimpsing the panicked nurses, Keshav became alarmed.
"What's wrong!?" forwarding to the nurses, Keshav asked them. By now, Vaanmathi had paused her crying because her eyes weren't charring at the moment.
"I'm okay.." trailed Vaanmathi's voice from inside the restroom. The nurses were relieved but Keshav was still puzzled...she was okay? What had transpired? He thought to himself.
They nurses then swiveled to doctor Keshav and informed him what had happened with Vaanmathi a few instants ago. Keshav nodded to them after attending to their words.
Eye burning commonly happens when dust or pollutants intrude the eye. It wasn't that serious but he still decided to check her.
"Clothe please..." Vaanmathi's voice sounded adorable to Keshav. He internally scolded himself for having such opinions.
Subsequently, Vaanmathi's hand peeked out from the door and the nurse who clutched the hospital gown hurriedly planted it on Vaanmathi's hands.
Keshav, comprehending the situation, silently left for his cabin. Vaanmathi was not yet aware that Keshav has returned. Hence, after decking out the gown, she sat on the bed and quietly had food that was bestowed to her by one of the nurses.
