Sam looked around in her room sweating, paranoid and desperate. It was another nightmare, one of many. It's been this way since the night on the mountain. She remember every hour, every heart beat. The smell of cellar, the abandoned sanatorium. How Josh was helping her out with hot water. His silly jokes and the way he looked at her, a moment of peace moments before disaster. Why would he hide this from her?
Her diary was her way to cope, the blue pocket to keep her sane. Just a girl with a lot of baggage. Abandoned, by the living and the dead. Barely attending school, earlier A- grade student. in another life. her parents were worried, but not really there. they couldn't feel her pain, just watch their daughter dissolve hoping she would somehow recover. she didn't realize how much josh meant to her. she wouldn't even cry, just stare out the window for hours imagining him walking in her bedroom door.
"Sam! you have a visitor!" her mom shouted delighted.
