The Mistake

Chapter 3

"Stop Leah, you're going to be meeting your uncle." I say as she messes with my lip piercing.

"Mummy, is daddy coming too?"

"No, why would he?"

"Well I thought since my uncle's coming, shouldn't daddy since they're brothers?"

I laugh, "no sweetie, you're uncles my brother, your dads not related to d- to your dad."

"Oh." she says and then we hear Ben knock.

"Ill get it", I say and go to the door.

I get it so I can see his face then he bear hugs me, "Sophie!" he whispers and hugs me tighter.

"Hi Ben", I smile, he may not be my favorite person, but he's still my brother.

"I brought Danny." Says Ben quietly.

I sigh, "it's fine." I say and Ben and I walk to the living room so he can see Leah.

"Leah, this is your uncle." I say and lean on the wall.

Danny walks in and I slightly freeze, he looks at Leah and smiles and then he looks at me and smiles.

"Hey Soph, can I- can I uh talk to you?" asks Ben as he looks between Danny, I, and Leah.

We walk to the kitchen, "who's the father?"

"Ben we already talked about this." I say quietly.

"Just tell me." He says as he looks at me dead in the eyes.

"Ben, I don't know", I lie.

"You're lying", he says as he leans on my wall, "you do that think with your face, now tell me who it is."

"Why is it so important now?"

"I just want to know."

"It's not impor-"

"It's Danny isn't it?" he asks quietly.

"No", I say quickly.

"I've been here for not even five minutes, and I can see the similarities between the two." He says and looks back into the living room.

Danny and Leah were messing around and laughing.

"Just don't tell him." I say urgently.

He looks at me like I'm stupid. "why shouldn't, he deserves to know."

"Ben, he won't be there for her, he will be absent in her life, maybe a post card here and there, a holiday or two, she deserves better than that."

"He won't be like that, she deserves a dad, he may not be the best as a father role, but maybe he'll clean up his act." He says as he looks at me.

"I don't know. He'll probably just freak out, and pretend that Leah's not even his."

"He won't, you need to tell him."

"Later, I'll come to the party and tell him."

He sighs but nods and hugs me, "just tell him" he says and we walk back into the living room.

"What were you fuckers talking about?" asks Danny as he sits on the couch.

"Hey, no cussing!" says Leah as she squints her eyes at Danny.

He holds up his hands in surrender, and smiles.

"Just talking about tonight." Says Ben as he looks at me.

"Yeah." I say and rub my neck.

"We're going to a party?" asks Leah excitedly.

"Sorry pumpkin, but you're going to grandmums and grandads."

Her face brightens even more. "Yes!"

I smile.

"Danny and I are going to go get ready for later", says Ben.

I nod, "ok, see ya." I say and hug Ben and wave to Danny.

"Okay, go get your sleeping bag", I say as I grab my car keys.

She comes back about five minutes later.

"Got your clothes?"

She nods.

"Toothbrush, and hairbrush?"

"Yep", she smiles.

"Okay, lets go." I smile and we go out to the car, we get to my parents in about 10 or 15 minutes.

"Thanks mum." I smile and hug her.

"No problem." She smiles and hugs back, "so you want me to drop her off at school tomorrow?"

I nod, "love you bye."

"Love you too, bye sweetie."

I get to the party as everyone is getting there.

"He's in the back." Says Danny from behind me.

I turn and look up a him, "Danny." I whisper.

He smirks down at me, "Sophie." He whispers too.

"I-I uh need to talk to you." I say.

"Ok, lets go." Says Danny as he holds my hand and leads me to the back room.

He leans down and kisses me.
I push him back, "Danny, I need to talk to you."

"That can wait for later", he smirks and kisses me again.

I push him back, "Danny, I'm serious."

"What is so-o important?"

"You- uh-your."

"Spit it out."

"You're a father." I say fastly.

He looks at me a moment, he does a disbelieved look then looks as though he's about to talk then backs up and sits in the bed and puts his head in his hands, "Leah's mine?" he asks after a long pause.

"Y-yea."

He looks back up at me, "why didn't you tell me?"

"Your band was just starting, I didn't want you to choose the band over Leah."

He looks at me, "I would've chose Leah over the band, I'm not that much of an prick! You had to've known that." He says

"Not to be rude, but I didn't want a drunk to raise her, especially the way you act right now."

"What made you want to tell me now?"

"Ben wanted me to." I say quietly.

"Oh, so I wouldn't have even known if it wasn't for Ben." He shakes his head and looks down.

"I'm sorry."

"Can I just have some time to think?" asks Danny as he still doesn't look at me.

I walk out and wipe my eyes.

Danny the father, whoa! I saw that coming, so yep, will he step up to the plate or.....

2017 update.

I had a majority of this book written a while ago so the slew of updates you're  about to get are completely unedited and possibly cringe af
