Ellie closed the door quietly, to not let her mom know she was home. "Ellie!? Where have you been!?" Her mother asked as Ellie rolled her eyes and stormed into her room, gathering clothes "don't ignore me!" She shouted as she barged in Ellie's room "I'm not- ignoring you, I just gotta visit Beverly" Ellie said calmly
"it's always about Beverly. You follow her around like a dog!" Her mother said as Ellie scoffed "no I don't" she laughed as she went past her mother "Jesus, if my husband had any idea what I would have to deal with" her mom said as Ellie rolled her eyes "I love how you refer to him as "your husband"." Ellie said
"he is my husband" she said as Ellie turned around "you can run off and get a new husband. What he was, was my dad. Can't you just say that occasionally?" Ellie said "fine. We're not talking about him right now. Cause it's just too upsetting." Her mother said "it's too hard and too sad and it gives me a cluster headache" I know." Ellie mimicked as her mother had an offended look on her face
"oh, my god. You have no compassion." Her mother said as Ellie laughed "actually, I'm just bored because I know everything you're gonna do before you do it." Ellie said "sure you do." "Oh, you don't believe me?" Ellie asked "no I don't." Her mother said as Ellie grabbed a paper and a marker "I'm gonna write down the next thing you're gonna say to me" Ellie said as she began writing down a word "I'm not gonna play your-" her mother said but got cut off by Ellie "-little games, Ellie." Ellie said as her mother crossed her arms
"congratulations" her mother said as Ellie held up the word 'congratulations' and hummed "alright, you know what. Here's something you're not gonna guess" her mother said as Ellie hummed again "your dad would be so disappointed in the way you're turning out." She said coldly as ellie's smirk slowly faded away after realizing what she had just said "what?" Ellie breathed out as her voice broke "you heard me." Her mother said as Ellie stormed out of the house and peddled away on her bike to Beverly's house
"Hey ell- what's wrong?" Beverly asked after realizing that Ellie was crying "nothing" Ellie whimpered as Beverly hugged the slightly shorter girl "Don't worry about her. You're with me now, and we're gonna have a good time with your cousin and his friends" Beverly said, somehow knowing this was about Ellie's mom. while rubbing her back as Ellie pulled her head away from her shoulder
"I'm sorry" she sniffled as she saw the huge wet stain on Beverly's dress "it's alright. The dress is probably gonna get wet anyways" Beverly laughed as Ellie laughed with her. She loved everything about Beverly, she loved the way she made her feel and the way she looked, and how nice she was to everyone she met. She loved her in general, but she'd never seen a girl like another girl like this before so she assumed it wasn't normal. "Oh, I like the new look" Ellie said gesturing to Beverly's hair as Beverly blushed but still seemed like she got reminded of something "thanks"
