She was the product of an affair between Queen Luna of Solaria and a common Air Fairy. Sawyer was never wanted in the first place and it didn't help that she was whisked away to an adoptive family as soon as she was born.
Which is partially why Sawyer of Solaria is Sawyer Knox. The Knox family were legacy Specialists, so Sawyer logically decided to follow the same path despite being an Air Fairy. She graduated with flying colors, and when shit took a turn for the worse with more frequent Burned One sightings and Saul Silva is infected by one, the graduated Specialists are sent to go kill it. Sawyer delivered the final blow to it, but he still wasn't cured. Her blood boiled and it took a lot of restraint to not disintegrate everything around her.
Then came Rosalind Hale. Sawyer was minding her business back home with her adoptive brother and sister when she was called to Alfea. She rejected it at first, but she was persistent. And thus, she came back. She had to work alongside Andreas of Eraklyon to quote: "Prepare the weak to face the horrors that await."
It sounded horrifyingly poetic, but she was getting something in return, so there was something to look forward to.
And when she caught wind that her old friend, Flora, was around Alfea to help out, the heart eyes that young Sawyer had for the earth fairy were making their return no matter how much Sawyer tried to fight it.
Part of her didn't even want to.
