ERIC AND SAWYER WERE BEING SURPRISINGLY SOCIAL at the pre-banquet mixer. They had talked to so many influential people that had gone to school with their dads. Sawyer shocked herself, reaching for two glasses of champagne from one of the waiters' trays and downing them both within a good thirty seconds, "That is great champagne, thank god we snatched some."
"That's my girl," Aaron mused, also taking two glasses of champagne but he handed one to his husband instead. "Could we take one?"
"There's only two. Eric and I need way more to get through a day here," Sawyer mumbled against the rim of her glass of champagne, making Oli nearly choke on his drink. "Dad literally invented one of the most used formulas for alcohol. You can make your own."
"Well, we can't make any on the road," Aaron reasoned with a shrug, wrapping an arm around Oli's shoulders. Aisha and Flora were walking around since they and the others had just arrived and Flora stopped in her tracks as soon as she heard her laugh.
Aisha thought something was wrong when Flora stopped, but then she followed where she was looking and connected the dots, "We can go talk to her if you want."
"Fair warning, I might faint," Flora said rapidly, holding Aisha's arm tighter. The water fairy chuckled, patting her shoulder before they started walking towards where Sawyer stood. "Hey!"
Sawyer turned, smiling upon seeing Flora, "Hey, Flora." She tapped Aaron's arm. "Dad, this is Flora and Aisha." She gestured to the two and Aaron untangled his arm from Oli to shake their hands.
"Oh, Flora!" Aaron said in recognition, eyes brightening as he glanced at Sawyer. "She always talks about you."
"She does it a lot," Oli lowered his voice to a whisper, earning a light nudge from Sawyer. "I'm sure Ezra can provide lists on lists and timelines on timelines."
Eric covered his mouth to stop himself from laughing at the look on Sawyer's face. She was red in the face and had just reached for more champagne. Aisha had slipped away to talk to Aimee Leroy, who was a table away. Flora, with a teasing smile at what her dads had revealed, latched onto Sawyer's arm.
"How interesting," Flora mused teasingly, and Sawyer avoided any and all eye contact, downing another glass and sending her fathers a glare. "Wanna walk around?" Sawyer met her eyes and nodded.
"We're just gonna walk around for a bit," Sawyer told her dads, giving them both one last hug. "See you in the banquet?"
"We'll save you a spot," Oli nodded, smiling at the two girls. "Have fun!"
