Recap:

The lights just went dark, and i'm standing behind the curtain that will reveal my lie to the whole room.

Is she here? Did Harry tell her anything? My nervousness and guilty conscience were taking over my body. I don't know if I can go through with this.

"Our first guest taking the mic today is someone who we normally don't see around here.." The announcing voice said on the other side of the curtain.

I turned my body, looking around the area for Harry to assure me that Jade was in the audience. As I turned to my right, I saw Harry standing near the door, giving me a small nod. I nodded back to him, facing my head towards the ground and letting out a long sigh.

This was it, this is when the heartbreaking is going to happen.

This is the last time I'm going to see Jade.

"Niall Horan!" The voice shouted on the other side of the curtain; it slowly rising from the hanging position it was in a minute ago.

"Before I start; I just want to say.." I began to say in a hushed tone, stepping out on the stage in front of the crowd, looking around for Jade. I finally found her, my eyes locking to her surprised ones.

"I'm sorry."

Chapter 19: Haunted

*** Niall's POV ***

I listened as the drums to the song pounded in my ears, my eyes glued to the ground. Taking a few steps closer to the audience, I lifted my head and caught a glimpse of Jade's confused expression. The lyrics haven't begun yet, so she has yet to discover what it is I'm sorry for. I lifted the microphone to my lips, ready for the regretful words to slip out of my mouth.

Can't you see? It won't mean a thing to me.

I've been doing this too long. Baby girl, I've felt it all.

The words slipped out of my mouth as a burden, my eyes drifting around the audience to see Jade's still confused face locked on mine. I watched as she began to realize what this is all about, slumping in her seat and lowering her head to the ground. I kept my face as tight as possible, trying to look anywhere but where Jade was sitting. I took another step toward the crowd.

So watch out. If you try to play your luck.

Ain't nobody gonna care enough, to catch you fall.

Too curious to hide, I lifted my head to hers. Her eyes were filled with tears, her face glued onto the stage. She was frozen. All that you saw in her eyes was pain, hurt, exactly what I wanted. I looked at every detail of her flawless face. She was confused, she didn't know what was going on, and she sure as hell was hurt because of the hurtful words that just left my mouth.

I lowered my hand from my face, shaking my head while backing up.

"Stop the music." I said to the DJ manning the stage. He nodded confusingly, shutting of the instrumental playing behind my voice. I watched as the whole crowd gasped, Jade along with them.
