"We should really put our robes on now, we are nearly there!" Rose said. Her, Aurora, Melissa, Roxanne and Albus had been watching a muggle film on Rose's iPad, which is a type of muggle contraption that her mum had given her.

"Yeah we should." Melissa agreed. Soon they were all in their robes ready to get of the train when it would pull into the station in Hogsmeade. They all had the last chocalte frogs, and Aurora got Harry on her chocolate frog card!

At last the train got to the station, and the 5 of them got off. They heard the booming voice of Hagrid calling all the first years to him. McGonagall had let him keep his job as game keeper after the battle was over, and he still took the first years to the castle in boats over the lake.

Aurora, Melissa and Roxanne went in the boat with Hagrid and had a long conversation with him about when their parents were at Hogwarts.

Finally they were there. All the first years got out of the boats and walked up to the main entrance to the castle. Hagrid rapped on the door, and waited for someone to let them in. Professor Slughorn came to the door and greeted the first years.

"Please come in! The rest of the school is behind those doors, waiting. You will wait in this room here for me to come back. When I come back I will take you to the great hall were you will be sorted into your houses. These houses will be your family for the rest of your time here at Hogwarts. When I come back I expect you to look smart." The first years took in what hesaid, and he left the room. Aurora and Melissa made sure each other looked neat and smart, as did all the other first years.

"Hey, Potter. My father told me all about your father's adventures." a snide voice said. The five looked around to see a small, blonde haired boy sneering at Albus. They instantly knew him as a Malfoy.

"Oh, and you Weasley's." He smirked.

"Stay away fr-" Albus got cut of by Slughorn who came throught the door and said:

"We are ready for you now!"

Aurora and Melissa glared at Malfoy before walking towards the great hall in perfect synchronization. The other three followed.

Outside the hall the professor whispered,

"When you go in I would like you all to stand in alphabetical order of your surnames and wait to be called up." All the first years nodded, and went in.

"I hope we are in Gryffindor! " Melissa whispered to Aurora.

"Or Ravenclaw, remember Mum was Ravenclaw!" She whispered back.

When they went in they were amazed by the sight. Four long rectangular tables filled with students, floating candles everywhere, and at the front, the professors, including Neville, were sat at a table facing the students.

McGonagall placed a battered hat on a stool in front of the first years. Everyone went silent and then the hat twitched. Suddenly it started singing. It sang about the different houses, Gryffindor, then Hufflepuff, then Ravenclaw and finally Slytherin. It explained that it would know what house they were in.

Once it had finished the whole hall burst into applause and Mcgonagall quieted everyone. She had a roll of parchment and started reading names from it. When she called a name that first year went up to the stool and had to put the hat on. Then the hat would scream out a house.

After some time she called out,

"Longbottom Aurora!" Aurora walked up to the stool shakily and sat on it. She put the hat on and the hat said to her,

"Hmm, where to put you, lots of courage like your father I see, also wise like your mother, hmmm, well, better be GRYFFINDOR!"

She sighed in relief and smiled at Melissa, as she was next.

As soon as the hat was on Melissa's head, it said the same things to her as it told Aurora, and it called out "GRYFFINDOR" again. She joined Aurora at the table and they celebrated very quietly.

Soon it was Albus's turn, and luckily he was also in Gryffindor, as where Rose and Roxanne.

Suddenly, loads and loads of of food appeared on the golden plates in front of them. There was all the foods they could think of, and soon everyone was tucking in.

At the end of the meal, puddings included, and all the leftovers had dissapeared, professor McGonagall called out,

"Before we all get a good night sleep, we will sing! The words appeared in the air, and the school bellowed, at their own paces as Dumbledore used to get them to do:

'Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,

Teach us something please,

Wether we be old and bald,

Or young with scabby knees,

Our heads could do with filling,

With some interesting stuff,

For now they're bare and full of air,

Dead flies and bits of fluff,

So teach us things worth knowing,

Bring back what we forgot,

Just do your best, we'll do the rest,

And learn until our brains all rot!'

Aurora and Melissa thought it was completely mad, but they still loved it.
