PART TWO: SORRY, DID YOU SAY VIRGINIA OR VIRGIN?
Virginity. Such a tricky tricky word. What does it mean? It comes from an old french word maiden or an sexually inexperienced woman. In these modern times this also means men and Virgin in its classical sense doesn't seem to fit with todays sexual preferences.
Virginity is a word used to put a price on woman. Sounds very feminist and it kind of should because the concept is based in sexisim. Marriage was meant to be a trading deal. Your dad got 'X' amount of goats so a guy twice your age could have sex with you and your parents wouldn't have to keep paying for you to stay alive. People lived to forty years old back then, they had shit to do and paying for your twelve year old ass wasn't on their list when they had the plague to deal with.
Still, in modern times and thankfully with more cultural advantages we get to see the true means behind the term but first lets address some facts. First and probably the most shocking is:
VIRGINITY IS REAL. Okay, this may be a shock and your like 'Amber you are one crazy bitch to tell me that isn't real' and I would ask what's a virgin? Saying penis-in-vagina penetration makes you a non-virgin completely ignores LBGTQ couples, oral and anal sex. The whole thing is about keeping girls 'pure' and the idea is ridiculous. You're person ideas about virginity are based on your experiences and what that means to you.
HYMENS ARE A SIGN OF VIRGINITY: Nope! Wrong again buddy! Hymens are so focused on as the ultimate sign of purity but the truth is sobering. Hymens are a thin membrane that surrounds the opening of the vagina and they get worn down throughout adolescences. They can be torn through jumping on a trampoline, horseback riding, inserting a tampon or playing sports. Some women are even born without them!
YOUR GOING TO BLEED THE FIRST TIME: Not if you take it slow. The blood is not your poor virginity leaking out of your body. Oh poor virginity we barely knew thee. Nope! Bleeding during sex happens because the vaginal walls have been injured due to poor lubrication or sometimes just a shitty partner. The vaginal tissue is tearing to do to force that isn't needed. If everyone just relaxes and takes their time it'll be fine. That being said, Infections can also cause bleeding.
In summary, bleeding is never normal. If you bleed you should go see a doctor or maybe take a sex break or a better partner whose willing to slow down. This brings us to my next point.
IT HURTS: Sex should never hurt. Seriously, never. Most pain women feel during their first penetrative sex is due to muscle tension due to nerves. The walls tighten and so more force is applied by your partner to enter causing pain and sometimes blood. These two go hand in hand because they are often associated as signs of the fabled 'virginity'. The best thing to do is take a deep breath and take it slow. You only get your first time once, try to enjoy it.
EVERYBODY'S DOING IT: The average american loses his or her 'virginity' at 17. Some people wait longer. Some people aren't even interested it. Everyone is doing it and if they are who cares? Sex is about doing what makes you happy and exploring what you like. Take all the time you need because in the end it's really no one else's business what you do with your body.
So that's that.
