"The Amulet has been a huge part of the succession for centuries," the council stood around the kings chambers. His body was already gone and turned to dust. "And to say that one of the heirs to decide to partake in the ritual is-"
"Sir Barnabus." The young man, whose red hair was thrown in a bun on top his head, resting against the wall walked forward, placing his arm on the others shoulder. "I have no desire to become king, so the best choice would be for my older brother to take the thrown." He leaned forward, his lips brushing against Barnabus ear. "Don't you think?"
Barnabus swallowed. "Master Sebastian, there is still the matter of Master Ashton. He could still search and take the amulet."
"Don't you see," Sebastian threw his arms up, a sinister grin plastered on his face. His crimson eyes excited. "Without being of age, my younger brother has no choice to forfeit the test!"
"Unless, of course, he makes a blood contract." A new voice popped up, the men in the room grew still as they turned to look at who spoke. The eldest prince, he lounged in the chair. His legs crossed, his hands folded neatly in his lap and his eyes were closed. "Our younger brother could create a blood contract with a human and could become full grown."
For a moment there was pure silence.
On top of the dark grey silky sheets was a pile of ashes, the kings ashes. The infamous Kings Amulet that kings have worn for generation had already vanished, ready for the Kings Trial, that all heirs do.
The middle son, Sebastian, moved closer to the bed. His long dark red hair swaying with each step, his black and red uniform- a uniform similar to his brothers- was unkept and exposed his smooth chest. "Well," he mumbled as he rubbed his fathers ashes between his fingers before flicking them to the floor. His crimson eyes watching each speck shift to the floor. "I guess your right brother." Barnabus swallowed hard, backing towards the door. All eyes lingered on the middle brother. "I have no intentions of winning to amulet, but I will help you find it." He flashed his brother's a half crazed smile before stretching his arms high above his head. "But I fully support you, Cain."
Cain, the eldest, quietly unfolded his legs. Unlike his brother, his clothes were neat and smooth, not a single wrinkle. His blonde hair was short and smoothed back, and in each ear a single black diamond earring. Cain crossed his legs once more, resting his hands on his knees and closed his eyes.
"Thank you, brother." He pressed his lips together, waiting for his younger brother to speak. The door opened, and the room turned. A few of the council men began to whispered as the young boy stormed across the room only to stop at the door of the bed. He stayed quiet only gazing at the pile of ashes. "Ah, Ashton." Cain smiled politely. "It's good to see you, we were beginning to think you wouldn't show." The other men snickered, as the youngest brother flashed him a hate filled glare. But of course, Ashton, who looked no more then twelve with large crimson eyes and medium black hair, was quiet as usual. He will be a problem, Cain thought. Especially when he comes of age. "Ashton." Ashton turned on his heels heading back out of the room, he kept his back towards his brothers and the council. "What will you do? Sebastian already step down to give me the thrown."
Ashton narrowed his eyes and balled his fist tighter. "You will never be king, Cain." Ashton continue walking to the door.
"How do you expect to find the amulet!" Sebastian shouted. "You have yet to become full grown!" Ashton closed his eyes before vanishing. "Cheeky bastard." Sebastian growled. "How dare he-"
"It's fine, brother." Cain smiled and slowly got to his feet. "He'll be back."
"Master Cain is right," another council member snickered. "No human in the right mind would make a Blood Contract with him." A few men snickered.
"Your right." Sebastian put his hands on his hips. "They would really have to be a fool." He bowed to his brother before walking out the door. "Christian." His voice was cold.
"Yes, master?" His slave appeared behind him.
"Follow my younger brother. Make sure he learns his lesson."
"Of course, my master."
