He was fighting back tears after seeing her like this because his heart was crying in pain, and the reason for her pain was only him; this guilt was slowly killing him.
She instantly calmed down, feeling his warm arms around her. It seemed like she got her breath back. She slightly slipped her hands into his jeans pockets, taking a deep breath of relief.
She couldn't breathe properly if he wasn't with her or if he was angry with her, and at that moment he was with her, his arms securely wrapped around her, all her stress vanished like magic, and she felt alive again. This was the power of true love.

"Now lie down and sleep," Ethan said, kissing her forehead before lying her down properly.
Cole was just staring at her with deep guilt in his eyes.
"Cole, it's too late, why don't you stay here tonight." Listening to Ethan's words, he came back to the earth. "You can go to my room and sleep," he suggested.
He wasn't feeling like going from there, he just wanted to be with her, take her small fragile body in his protective arms, make her feel alright and say sorry to her for hurting her.
