Residual Limb Sock Types

Different lengths of residual limb socks are available (often available in a coloured band). It Also adjustable in thickness.

Terry Towelling Socks: The pile within these Terry Towelling socks is fairly dense.

Nylon socks: are extremely thin and are cosy near to the skin for many persons who have had amputations. To make it simpler to slip into the plastic socket or to take the liner out of the socket when removing the artificial limb, they are increasingly frequently used over the soft foam liner.

Gel Socks: One particular type of sock, called Silipos or Dermasil, are gel based socks. They are prescribed for those who have had an amputation and suffer from a specific issue with the residual limb.

Socks with residual limb shrinker (also called as Juzo): When your artificial limb is not on, you should wear brown elastic socks called residual limb shrinker socks. These socks assist in keeping the contour and minimising swelling of your residual limb. Probably shortly after your amputation, you will be given a shrinker sock.
