The forest in these parts was known for its glory and mystery. no one inhabited it and very few dared to enter. No one had a real reason to be afraid of this area, there were no real threats; the most dangerous things to inhabit the trees were the birds that would sometimes swoop down and swarm travelers. Though they only did this to see what was going on. No, people weren't afraid of the forest itself, but instead the stories attached to it.
Many travelers tried to navigate through the mushroom filled forest but none managed to get through to the prize they were searching for.
Deep within the forest, in a cave hidden by the tree-like mushrooms, lay a prophesy. No one really knew what the prophesy truly said as no one was brave enough to venture that far into the maze. None except one. One young traveler managed to find the cave and scribble down, roughly, what the prophesy foretold.
However, that wasn't until the infamous All For One also located the and sealed the entrance. The traveler, left inside, had to find a way to both survive and get out. Even for a great a wizard as he was, this proved to be a difficult trial.
Days were spent in that cave, people who knew the traveler believed him to be long gone. Many people had accepted what had happened to the wizard. A ceremony was held in his home village to remember his passing. Despite his village accepted his passing, his beloved wife refused to accept such fate.
People in her village started calling her mad for believing such a thing, but she didn't budge. She was certain that he would soon return. As she waited, she took care of their newborn child with great pride, teaching them wizardry in hopes of one day becoming a great sorceress.
However, the day of his return never came. Instead, one singular young phoenix came to the village.
By now, the young child had grown up to the age of ten. They were playing outside with the other village children when the bird arrived. Being extremely observant, the young child noticed the bird before any others in the village did. No one was sure if that was the reason why but the bird flew down to them and landed on their shoulder.
The bird felt warm, orange, yellow and red feathers covering its entire body and a long tail of the same colours wrapping around the young child's shoulders. Tied to its left food, a scroll. The young child took it off, opened it and read it. On it, it spoke: "Deep within the cave known of horrors, a prophecy lies. I tried to find it and succeeded. I tried to return and failed. So, now, I leave it up to you. Go find the prophecy and help fulfil it." Along with the statement, coordinates for the cave were written at the bottom.
After receiving this, the young child adopted the bird and trained harder than ever before. They had gained a new mission in life: discover and fulfil the long-foretold prophesy.
------------------------------------------------------
As you prepared to leave on your journey, now 16 years of age, your mother came to see you one last time. The young sorceress knew that this was a dangerous mission, but you were also certain that you could accomplish your father's goal.
You had packed only the bear essentials needed for the trip: some food, a couple of water bottles, a hair brush for your horse, hoof picks and extra horse shoes, equipment for your phoenix, some books on different herbs and plants, some books on different animals, a map, a change of clothes and the note given to you by your late father.
"My dear," your mother began to say to you, "must you really embark on such a dangerous mission?"
You could hear the fear in your mother's voice. Having lost her husband to this very mission, the last thing she wanted was to loose you too. You understood where this fear came from; In a way, it plagued you too. But you knew that this had to be done in order for everyone to truly live peaceful lives.
"I'm afraid so, mother." You replied to her. Your dear mothers face dropped, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. "Don't worry, I'll survive and ensure a better life for the two of us, I promise."
That promise seemed to ease your mothers nerves a bit as she smiled and wiped away her tears. "I know you will my dear," she replied, "but that won't stop me from worrying."
You knew that no matter what you said, your mother would still worry for your safety. Your village wasn't too far off from the middle of your kingdom, Kaen, so you planned to try reach there by tonight. Your mother was aware of this, as she recommended you did this.
"I'll write to you when I get to the centre, so you know I'm safe!" you reassured your mother, with the same determined look on your face that your father once wore.
The stiffened her cry and hugged you, making the phoenix on your shoulder fly up and land on your head instead. "You're just like your father was." She cried into your shoulder. "I'm so proud of you, my dear."
With this, the two of you split apart. You hoisted yourself up onto your pitch-black horse and began to gallop away. As you rode, people in the village bid you fair well. You waved goodbye to all of them, promising that, one day, you will return. One day, after the prophesy is completed. One day, after everyone is saved.
