"Welcome to the Froppy Inn!" a croaky voice spoke.
Koda, the young Shepard you met, had brought you to the 'Froppy Inn' in hopes of them having a spare room for you to spend the night before you left for your second destination. The inn was quite small, but it was also very cosy and welcoming.
The walls were ones made of simple stone stacked up together with some windows dotted around them. There was a wooden front desk where people sleeping in rooms could rent them out; this also doubled up as a bar for people sitting at the few tables scattered around the place. There was a round wooden one next to some barrels along with a few longer rectangular tables. Each table had at least 2 circular wooden stools attending them.
On top of the barrel's torches were placed on mettle plantings to, slightly, light up the room. In the corner was a pot above a fire place with a stone chimney above it to capture all and any smoke that may try to make an escape. The majority of the light came from a large, circular chandelier that was fastened to the roof.
To the left of the front desk, a set of stairs led to the top floor and all of the bedrooms available. A wooden barrier stopped guests from falling off of the top floor. 4 doors were visible, leading to the actual resting chambers.
Behind the bar, a young woman stood with a cheery look on her face. She was short with long green hair that ended in a bow. Part of her hair was braided and tied at the back in a small ponytail. Two strands of hair helped frame her face, along with one chunk that fell flat against her forehead. She had wide eyes that were dark green in colour. Ever so slightly, her tongue stuck out of her mouth.
The woman wore a simple yet elegant dress. It had puffy, white sleeves that went three quarters of the way down to her elbows and a white top half covered in ruffles at the top. A red skirt that was covered in white stripes going down accompanied the remainder of the dress; this ended in the same white ruffles with red dots coming in groups of five with the occasional lonesome one. A dark green apron covered the front of the dress. The apron had white string on the front, mimicking a corset, and red flowers with white middles. The bottom of the apron was a lighter green which had red and white flowers at the bottom. These flowers had dark green leaves accompany each and every one.
She wore black tights to hide her legs from any insects that may enter her doors. A pare of white boots with pink flowers and a pink line down the middle to decorate them kept her feet warm. The top of the shoes mimicked the collar of a shirt and had red ruffles at the end.
"Tsuyu, hi!" Koda greeted the woman. You kept behind your new friend, as you took in your surroundings. Dotted around the rom were some frog-like decorations. These really helped to add some colour to the rather dull room.
"Hiya Koji, how may I help you tonight – ribbit" Tsuyu asked. "Ribbit?" you muttered aloud, confused by the girls' strange antics. "Oh," Koda began, "I forgot to introduce you, this is y/n l/n, they're a traveller and need a place to stay." He informed the girl about your situation. This was your queue to reveal yourself to the inn keeper.
The woman behind the bar examined you, finger pressed to her cheek. "Ribbit – you're a sorceress." She stated. "I am," you responded, preparing to ask a question about her, "Why do you croak?" you asked her bluntly. The woman's high spirits seamed to die down slightly at the mention of her frog-like characteristics. "My family and I were all cursed by the Dark Wizard," she began, a solemn look on her face as she spoke, "We were cursed to all become frogs or toads."
A look of shock overtook your features. "Tsuyu's parents and siblings have already transformed," A voice from up the stairs began to state, "She's the only one who hasn't."
The voice from the stairs came from another young woman.
She wore a simple light pink dress that was buttoned up at the front. A pair of muted pink covered her hands. Black tights covered her legs and tall pinkish-red boots with black buckles and accents kept her feat toasty. A pink witch's hat covered her head. The hat was that of a cloak, just without the remainder of the actual cloak.
The woman had short, brown hair with large and round brown eyes. Her cheeks were pink but her face looked sombre.
"I'm Ochaco Uraraka." She greeted, as she came down the stairs to join you. "I'm sorry to but in, but I over heard your conversation." Uraraka went to join Tsuyu behind the counter, leaving you to question her too. "You're a sorceress too." Once again, you sated that very bluntly. "I am," she started more cheerfully, "still in training though"
Tsuyu went down to a draw and opened it, looking inside for something, as Uraraka continued to speak. "I'm quite good friends with Tsu, so I know everything that's happened." Not knowing if you should say anything, all you did was nod along. Tsuyu's head popped back up; hand stretched out to you. "Here you go – ribbit – a room for you, it's the far left one."
"Oh, thank you so much Tsuyu!" you grabbed the key out of her hand and bowed. "No problem, you can pay in the morning!" She replied, waving her hand to you as you left.
Once you unlocked and stepped into the room, you were greeted to a cosy resting place. In the right corner, a bed with simple green sheets and a singular pillow found itself. Opposite to it was a small desk and chair. Behind the bed was a small window, giving you access to the world around you.
Next to the door was a small dresser for people to put any clothes they had on them. You went straight for the desk and took out some writing supplies. In that instant, you started writing to your mother about your journey to the city centre of Kaen. You told her about the dirk path, the mountains, the tunnel, the grass torch you made.
Once the letter was finished, you put it into a simple envelope, ready for it to be delivered to her tomorrow and got into your night outfit. It was a simple outfit, a brown tunic paired with some black trousers. After you were dressed, you got into bed and tried to fall asleep.
Unfortunately, you didn't know where the bathroom was so you couldn't brush your teeth or wash you face. You could've asked for directions, but you were too tiered after the long journey. Alas, this was only the beginning and the journey would only get longer and more dangerous.
Just as you dosed off, you started to begin to think about what the future holds for you. Who else will you meet on your journey? Will any of them join you? Will anyone get killed? And, most importantly, will anyone want to become your friend?
