but being a women in formula one, racing against your step-brother, ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend is a whole different level.

eleanor leighton mitchell (born june 25th, 1997) is the only child of canadian, ruby cain, and brit, donald 'donny' mitchell. the couple split up not long after mitchell's birth and cain returned to canada. after, mitchell and her father lived in london, england until donald remarried in 2002.

in 2002 donald married pascale mitchell (formally gasly), who has three sons nicholas and cyril caron and formula one driver, pierre gasly. the pair meet when eleanor and pierre expressed interest in racing and meet at a karting event. in 2003 the couple has a daughter, melanie mitchell.

mitchell continued karting for years competing aganst such names as charles leclerc, max verstappen, esteban ocon, alex albono and george russell. mitchell raced in formula two for the 2017 and 2018 seasons with prema racing, taking home the championship for 2018. in 2019, she took a contract to be a reserve driver for formula one team suderia ferrari, driving under the british flag.

mitchell is close friends with formula one drivers charles leclerc, lando norris, george russell and alex albon. in 2014, mitchell started dating max verstappen. the couple is consistently seen at races and on each other's social media.

mitchell currently lives in london with long-time best friends, alice charmicheal and lilah phillips, who acts as mitchell's assistant. mitchell is fluent in english, french and spanish.
