Chapter 1

You woke up to the sound of yelling coming from the other side of your rooms door. You sighed furrowing your brows in thought as you hear your sister starting to cry from the living room. Quickly getting up, peeking your head out of the door, looking around before spotting your sister Eika sitting on the cold floor covering her face hiccuping as your father stood above her, glaring while drinking sake. "I said to clean the damn house stop crying and being useless or you can sleep outside."
Moving on your own without thinking you stepped infront of your sister looking up at your father nervously, puffing out your chest to look stronger.

He loomed over you glaring and gripping his bottle tighter, knuckles turning white as it whizzes past your head, a loud crash of the bottle behind you. "Move out of the way y/n. She needs discipline."

You clenched your fists and held out an arm infront of Eika protectively.
"This isn't discipline..this is just abus-"
Your father backhands you across the face harshly glaring. "DON'T TALK BACK TO ME I'M YOUR FATHER."
you hang your head, shakily holding touching your cheek as the slap leaves a red stinging mark.
"NOW CLEAN THIS DAMN HOUSE ALREADY OR YOU'RE BOTH SLEEPING OUTSIDE." He yelled, alcohol reeking from his breath as you scrunch your nose, standing there quietly.

He scoffs before turning away, walking over to a chair and sitting back in it, leaning his head back drinking as you side eye your sister frowning and whispering. "..are you okay?..did he hurt you?.."
Eika slowly nods, shakily pulling her sleeve up revealing her bruised arm as your eyes widen.

Grabbing her arm, you drag her towards your shared room, sitting her down on her bed, ruffling her hair up smiling weakly. "..don't worry..we won't live like this forever..i won't let him hurt us anymore..that's a promise.."

Eika smiles back at you weakly, taking your hand and pressing her forehead into it. "..i-i miss mom.."
Your breath hitches and you hang your head quietly, gripping her hand back.
"..i-i do too..but..don't worry..she's watching over us..even now.." you smile weakly and sigh "..i'll be back shortly..i'm just going to visit muzan..okay?.." you ruffle her hair as she nods and you sneak out of the window, huffing and looking around before slowly making your way through the dirt path towards town.

You look up at the sky, smiling slightly as the sun slowly sets and fireflies fly around, butterflies accompanying them as you look around in awe.
One particular butterfly lands on the top of your nose, spreading its wings proudly as you cross your eyes slightly, giggling quietly and admiring it.
"..you're so beautiful.."

It lifted its head at you slightly, as if it understood you before flying around your head as you smile more. "..i guess we're friends now hm?~"

You walk down the path humming a lullaby, lost in thought, a slight frown making its way onto your face.
"..i'll never forget the warmth..the love you had for us mom..a-atleast i have this lullaby as a memory of you.."
Tears prick at your eyes as you quickly wipe them away, sniffling and shaking your head huffing.
"..b-be strong..for Eika..and for muzan.."

You look around spotting a red spider lilly as you smile, crouching down and carefully plucking it, staring at it in awe before continuing on yoir way towards town, twirling the flower between your thumb and pointer finger humming.

Lanterns light up the whole of town, cheerful laughter coming from all around as you walk to through town, seeing peoples smiling faces passing by as you sigh.
You look around before walking to a more secluded and empty area and spot muzan sitting on his front porch, his hands placed on his lap.
His beautiful raven black hair flowing behind him from the slight evening breeze.
The lantern lights complimenting his beautiful yet frail looking pale face.

You stare at him, admiring him before catching yourself and snapping out of it, slowly walking over smiling brightly and waving as he side eyes you, his eyes lighting up.

You could almost see the sparkles in his eyes appearing upon noticing you as you sit down beside him on the wooden porch.
"Hiii~ how are you feeling today?..better??.."
He side eyes you and chuckles quietly, coughing and covering his mouth with his thin sickly pale hand. "..hii y/n..i've had better days..but other than that..how are you?..i'm mlre interested in that."
You frown before smiling weakly and taking his hand gently, waving it around.
"..wellll..i'm okay don't worry about me~..and is there anything i can do to help?.."

He shakes his head smiling weakly. "..nono..just you being here is plenty enough f-for me y/n.."
Your cheeks turn slightly pink, hanging your head and fiddling with your sleeves anxiously, smiling. "O-oh..well im g-glad then..i'll visit more often~"

He nods smiling more as you yawn, stretching, your sleeves falling down slightly, revealing your bruised arms.
Muzan side eyes you, his eyes widening and gently taking your arm, inspecting it frowning. "..your father again.."

You quickly pull your hand bacm awkwardly, patting down your sleeves. "..."
He frowns and takes your hand again, weakly squeezing it. "..i'm so sorry i can't protect you..i really want to but..i cant even walk straight without falling down.." he frowns and hangs his head guiltily.
You frantically shake your head. "N-nono don't blame yourself this isn't even your fault.."
You look down at your other hand, seeing the red spider lilly before hesitantly reaching up and tucking it into his hair behind the ear smiling as hus eyes widen, cheeks turning bright red.

A girl walks past before side eyeing them and stopping, pointing at him laughing. "HAH. Well if it isnt the towns weirdo."
You side glare her, furrowing your brows as she approaches you two before flicking his forehead and he grips your arm tighter nervously as you stand up infront of him, blocking her view.

She glares right at you. "Back off weirdo, i guess what they say is true..weirdos stick together like flies to shit."
Your eye twitches as she goes to flick his forehead again before you slap her hand away, pushing her down to the ground as her eyes widen. "S-STOP IT YOU FREAK."

You glare down at her blankly before crouching down, gripping her hair and staring into her soul. "..leave before i do something you won't like."

She squeals in horror, pushing away from you and running off into the crowd with wide eyes as you sit back down beside him frowning. "..are you okay?.."

Muzan side eyes you and smiles more, taking your hand and squeezing it with both of his. "..t-thank you..for being here for me.."
You smile more and nod, leaning over and wrapping arms around him tightly, laying head over his shoulder. "..i'll always protect you..that's a promise~ forever and ever~" you giggle lightly and boop his nose as he laughs quietly.

"..i-i'm glad y/n.."
