North Tower of Orin

Chapter3

The night was setting in over Nalferia. Alexis rode Ismith as she held the Bermuthe tight. She focused on the pain she felt for her along with her own love and want for her to heal. She could feel her breathing getting better as she grasped her firmly in her hands.

It was just as Ismith had said. She could feel a warmth deep within herself traveling to the ends of her fingertips, entering the Bermuthe. The night air felt cold against her skin as they flew through the air, and she shivered. The creature coughed and spoke softly to her.

"The North tower is being attacked. Heeeaaahh...She breathed slowly. "Asmere sent me to tell you that- they are being overrun by strang ecreatures. Many are dead and wounded. Asmere knew our queen had returned to us. Ahhh." She sighed in pain.

Alexis concentrated harder hearing her words and her power became slightly stronger as she held her tight. A green glow came somewhere from within her, surrounding the two of them.

She could feel the change within herself and opened her eyes to see the  creature smiling back at her. She could see that she was becoming more aware of her surroundings and her breathing had gotten steadier. She smiled knowing she was going to be ok, and it was because of her.

"Did I hear that right my Queen? The North tower is being attacked? "Ismith asked her. It was hard to hear over the wind, so he slowed down his pace a bit to hear his companions.

"Yes, that is what she said. Why the North Tower?" Alexis questioned Ismith with interest. Ismith was quick to answer.

"There are four towers that protect all of Nalferia. Without them our land will be in darkness. Every tower has a crystal, each one acts as a powerful light like the moon. They are enchanted and all four are needed to keep Nalferia alive and bright at night. Their power is in every living creature in this world, and without them Nalferia would be no more. The magic of this land will die, as will its creatures.

There may be a force at work here that is stronger than us all. I do not know what they are up to, but it is not in our best interest. You can bet on that.. We have to make it to Orin's tower and help Asmere. How is your healing ability? We may need it." Ismith said.

"She is better. Not fully, but she is more aware than she was. So I can help some." She said to Ismith.

"Good. We are not far." He yelled as he picked up his speed.

They flew for a brief distance, a light shown in the sky unlike any she had ever seen. It was almost blinding. It was beautiful and pure; sheknew it must be the light of the tower. Nearing the glowing apparatus, she could see it was very tall and beautiful.

The light brightened the whole surrounding land as if it were still day. Two smaller structures hugged it at both sides as if cradling it, glowing just as bright.

It reminded her of a small version of the castles in Ireland but mad eof white marble. Not stone. It was magnificent.

Looking down she could see elves and dwarfs fighting with the same creatures from before. They fought with dignity and honor as their arrows flew into the hollow flesh of their foes.

Screeches filled the night air and Elvin cries rang in her ears. The elves were swinging madly at the winged things, tearing them apart.

They fought on with courage all in vein. The creatures were landing on the soldiers at any chance, grabbing hold of them. The men fell in their embrace to the ground.
